[1] An Egyptian military court has postponed its ruling in the trial of 40 members of the Muslim Brotherhood. The ruling will now be announced on Apr. 15th days after local elections. The Muslim Brotherhood is competing against Egypt's ruling party in the vote. The opposition group called the postponed ruling a political move. Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak ordered the 40 members to be tried in a military court more than one year ago. They were accused of terrorism and financial crimes. Thirty-three of the forty accused men have been detained since December, 2006.

Officials say troops have found Anjouan's self-declared leader Colonel Mohamed Bacar. But they said he remains free. Each of the Comoros' three islands has a president under the country's main leader. Colonel Bacar was reelected president of Anjouan last year, but the central government called the election illegal.

 

[5] The president of Zimbabwe says he wants to reduce prices on goods and services. President Robert Mugabe said he wants businesses to reduce prices to the levels of Feb. 12th. That is when government workers were given a pay increase. Mr. Mugabe also said the government would seize control of companies that refuse to cut prices. The president blamed his opponents for Zimbabwe's 1, 000% inflation rate. Mr. Mugabe is seeking a sixth term as Zimbabwe's president. The presidential election is Saturday.

 

[6] Finally, the World Health Organization says it has stopped the threat of polio in Somalia. WHO officials say 10, 000 volunteers risked violence to make sure all children under the age of five years were given polio vaccines. Officials said 1, 800, 000 children were treated. Somalia had been polio free for almost three years, but the disease returned in 2005. In 2003, clergymen in northern Nigeria banned polio vaccinations.
