I guess it can be either "for" or "we're" then.  They're both grammatically correct.  However, according to the context of the show,there was only one "French girl"--Topanga.  In addition, Cory was asking Topanga about the reason why she pretended to be a French girl.  So if she responded by saying "for..." which means "because of...", it makes sense too, don't you think?

What a coincidence, I was thinking about the word "trousers" too.  I copied and pasted the definition of "slacks" from here:

and then I had to run.  Later on, I had the same thought about not hearing this word very often from the Americans.  I also checked the Longman'sdefinition for it after I saw your response.  Here is the link:

They also define "slacks" as a pair of "trousers".  Both of the websites above are from USA.
I also went to the Walmart and JCpenny websites and typed in "trousers", men's and women's "trousers" or "pants" came up but not "underpants".

As for "we're", don't miss the line "me and my girlfriend thought it would be fun to come to another school's party."

As for trousers, I'm surprised that Walmart has a category of trousers for pants. I never hear people say "trousers" here in the Midwest. And I had a talk the other day with an American girl who is from Florida about these two words. She did tell me that when they talk about trousers they mean underwear. I'd better check it.
