L: I was looking at your itinerary for the day, and the activities and the startups and visits, and considering your day, yesterday, it just makes me dizzy. When you wake up in a day like this, is it something you relish or is it something you gonna to say, 'oh, for heaven's sake, I am gonna to go see Letterman?'

O: Ah, that was unexpected seeing that appear on the schedule.(L:hahaha…) I was…(L:Well…)Why those words, you ask your advisers, who's responsible for this? (L:Yeah, exactly right!) And everyone kind of looks down, pull out their blackberries and...Nobody is accountable. So we decided that there wasn't gonna to be any fancy camps during the summer or anything, they basically just goofed off (吊儿郎当,游手好闲) all summer, which I couldn’t do.

L: Other have!

L: I started noticing when they all had this town hall meetings, and there was vitriol (n.刻薄话)and general animosity(n.憎恨), anger, shouting and pushing, and…just unsavory behavior reported, I don't know if it was generally speaking, but they have been reported here and there, and then, within the last week, a couple of days ago. Jimmy Carter started talking about this behavior, and was speculating, perhaps, this unease, or poor decorum was because that people was rooted in racism. Is he on to something there or is there just something to talk about?

O: Well, first of all I think, it is important to realize that I was actually black before the election. So…so…(L:Really?)This is true. So…

L: How long have you been a black man?

O: So the American people, I think, gave me this extraordinary honor, and that told you a lot about where this country is at. I actually think that what’s happened is that whenever a President tries to bring about significant changes, particularly during time that economic unease, then there is a certain segment of the population that gets very wired up. And it happened after they have called us socialist, communist, JFK, there are all kinds of names, Ronald Reagan, when he came into the office he moved into a different direction people were sure that he was bringing the country down and so this is not untypical, one of the things you sign up in politics is * but I think that what's been missing from the conversation is that the overwhelming majority of people, Republican or Democrat, I think they just want to see some common sense, they just want to see some honesty and integrity in Washington, I think they are turned off by the shouting and yelling and they expected more from the Republic elected officials, and so…that is something I wanted to...

I was looking at your itinerary for the day. And the activities, and the stops and the visits, and considering your day yesterday, it just makes me dizzy. When you wake up on a day like this, is it something you relish, or is it something you say, Oh, for heaven's sake, I gotta go see Letterman?

That was unexpected, seeing that appear on the schedule. I was... That's one of those where, you know, you ask your advisers, Who's responsible for this?

Yes, exactly. Right.

And everybody kind of looks down and they pull out their BlackBerries.

But I will say that...

Nobody is accountable.

So we decided there wasn't gonna be any fancy camps during the summer or anything. They basically just goofed off all summer, which I couldn't do. So...

Others have.

I started noticing when they would have these town hall meetings and there was vitriol, and general animosity, and anger, and shouting and pushing, and just unsavory behaviour reported. I don't know if it was generally speaking, but it would be reported here and there. And then within the last week, a couple of days ago, Jimmy Carter started talking about this behavior and was speculating that perhaps this unease or poor decorum was because people was rooted in racism. Is he onto something there or is that something to talk about?

Well, first of all I think it's important to realize that I was actually black before the election. So...

Really!?

This is true. This is true.

How long have you been a black man?

So the American people, I think, gave me this extraordinary honor. And that tells you, I think, a lot about where the country is at. I actually think that what's happened is that whenever a president tries to bring about significant changes, particularly during times of economic unease, then there is a certain segment of the population that gets very riled up. And it happened, FDR(Franklin D. Roosevelt) was called a socialist and a communist. JFK(John F. Kennedy), there are all kinds of names hurled at him. Ronald Reagan, when he came into office, he was moving in a different direction and people were sure that he was bringing the country down. And so this is not untypical. One of the things you sign up for in politics is folks yell at you. But I think that what has been missing from the conversation is that the overwhelming majority of people, Republican or Democrat, I think they just want to see some common sense, they want to see some honesty, and integrity in Washington. I think they are turned off by the shouting and the yelling. And they expect more from their public elected officials. So that's something that I want to...

That was unexpected, seeing that appear on the schedule. I was, um, that was one of those where you ask your advisors, " who's responsible for this?"

Yes, exactly right.

And everybody kind of looks down and put out their blueberries.

But I will say...

Nobody is accountable.

Personally I think it is important to realize that i was actually black before the election. It's true. This is true.

How long have you been a black man?

So the American people, I think, gave me the extraordinary honor, and that tells you, I think, a lot about where the country is at.
