GCSE Grading: 143 Schools Could Miss Targets

Scores of schools could be labelled as failing by the Government after exam papers were controversially marked down.

GCSE English students are starting their new school year in the wake of a roar over wether their summer's exams were marled fairly. It was harder to get a good grade in June than it was in Janauary. Now letters ...to the time's education settlement show the difference involved exam regulator Ofqual.
Last month they wrote to the exam board edxcel, asking them to produce outcomes that are much closer to the predictions, this may require you to move great boundary marks further than might normally be reqired.
Edxcel repliedWe do not believe a further revision about great boundaries is justified.
The chief regulator appeared before NPs and insisted Ofqual had done nothing wrong, afterwards, she blamed over-generous markers.
It's true to day that in Janauary a minority students took unit ...,and as I've said before, examers do their best to set great boundaries, so we can see now, with the wonderful benefit of high sight that they were relatively generous. The fair thing to students is to maintain standards between exam boards.
That is no comfort to the students who'd lost a place on the printership.
I feel like just change anytime they want to change the grades they want to change, the mark is a game, is pretty annoying, its frustrating, and it just change whenever they want ...,they can't do.
Meanwhile, high performing schools say the implications go beyond the purpils effected.
As a result of the regrading, the performance of this outstanding school has dropped so far,it should trigger an automatic ... inss bpection.
Angry heads are demanding a climb down.
There is a huge member ...in education believe it's profoundly unfair, the revealation this morning in the letters would indicate that the examination boards believe it's profoundly unfair. The only people that believe that this June result was fair, was accurate, are Ofqual.
This is a roar that is likely to rumble long through the autumn term.
