BBC: Armandos Tale of Charles Dickens  | BBC

For me, Dickens' endings are disappointing. I know I'm going to be hauled by militant Dickensian Taliban for saying that, but I feel that Dickens hated finishing his novels and his heart wasn't in it. It's when his characters are restless and struggling and energetic that they're at theire most animated, and it's when they become static that something goes out of them. For Dickens, a happy ending is dull. It's how people struggle to try attain a happy ending, that's much much more interesting.

It's over 170 years since Dickens published his first novel and readers still find his work surprisingly fresh.

The thing about Dickens is, it stands up so well. A lot of humors are entirely modern.

It is gripping. He has great plots, he has the most incredible characterisation. But always with a sort of psychological basis.

Whatever he wrote about, even if it's a loathsome character, they're the human beings. He just takes some warts and all.

It's like that moment in a song when you go, oh yeah, you hear a song and go, oh, that's how I feel.

I said at the start of this program that I thought each Dickens novel feels like a continuation of the rest. Each novel gives you a unique vision of the world. It's curiously like your own, and yet strangely magnified and distorted and as a result Dickens makes you read the characters around you completely afresh; he forces you to gaze much more intently at your physical surroundings and in, inside looking at the state of your own mental and emotional condition. That's why Dickens' work is for me still the greatest example in the English language of a mind trying to engage comically and yet honestly with what it means to be human. And that's why also I think the best reaction to reading a Dickens for the very first time is to do what quite a lot of people do when they read a Dickens for the very first time, which is to pick up a new one, start reading that straight away.

[Homework]2013-04-01 狄更斯其人 Charles Dickens—24

For me, Dickens’ endings are disappointing. I know I am going to be hold as the hold militants of Taliban for saying that. But I feel he hate finishing his novels and his hard work in it. Between his cha are restless and struggling and energetic other than most animated. And when it becomes static and some people utter them. For Dickens, I think an happy ending is dull. Until people struggled to try attaining a happy ending, that’s much much more interesting.

It over 170 years since Dickens published his first novel. And we just still find his work surprisingly fresh.

The thing about Dickens is, it’s, it’s a lot of humories in timely modern.
It is griping, he has great pores, he has the most credible characterization, but always with a sort of psychological basis. * the human beings, he just takes some wants and all. So that moment somewhere you go, yeah, when you hear some else, oh god, that’s what I want to you feel.

I say right in the beginning of the program that each of Dickens’ novel feels like a continuation of the rest. Each no gives you a unique vision of the world which is curious like your own, yet strangely magnified and distorted. Now the result Dickens makes you read the characters around you completely afresh. He forced you to gains much more intently as your physical surroundings. In, insight looking at the state of your own mental and emotional condition that is why Dickens work is for me still the greatest example in the English language of a mind engage comically and yet honestly what it means to be human. And that’s why also I think the best reaction to reading a Dickens for the very first time, is to do what quite a lot of people do when they read a Dickens in the very first time. Which is to pick up a new one, and start reading that strength away?

For me Dickens ending a disappointing. I konw I'm gonna be hold cold by militants decans in Taliban but I fell that D hated finishing his novals and his heart wasn't in it. It's when his characters are restlessing struggling and energetic that are the most animal acted and it's when they become static that something __ them. To D I think a happy ending is doubt it's told people struggle to try to entertain a happy ending. that's much much more interesting.                                                                   It's over 170 years since D publish his first noval and we just still find his work surpprisingly fresh.  The way I thinkd D did this is it stands up so well it's a lot of heroes entirely model. It is creeping he has great plots since he has lasting incredible characterizition but with sort of psychological bases. whoever he wrote about. even he has saw a lots of some __. the human beings they just take some words and __ is that just moment in a  song year.  when you end a song is odd that's how I wanna feel.                    I said write at the start of this program that I thought each D noval feels like a continuation of the rest. Each noval gave you a unique vision of the world. It's purestly like a year old and yet strangly magalified and destorted. Now the result D makes you read the characters around you completely afresh he force you to gaiz much more intently at your phsical surrondings and in side looking at the state of your mental and emotional condition. That's why D work is for me still the greatest example in English language of mind trying to engage comicly and yet honoursly with all means to be human. And that's why also I think the best reaction to reading a D for the very first time mr. to do quiet a lot of people do when they read a D for the very first time which is to pick up a new one start reading that straight away.
