《英国独立电视台:史蒂芬弗莱中美洲游记》  ITV: Stephen Fry in Central America

第一集 墨西哥 Episode 1 - Mexico

Seven years ago, Stephen Fry travelled through all fifty states of the USA in a black cab. But he’s always been fascinated by events south of the border, so now, in this brand new four-part series, he embarks on an adventure into America’s backyard.

Travelling through Mexico and the entire Central American isthmus, to the Panamanian border with South America, it’s a remarkable trip through some of the oldest civilisations on the planet – Mayan, Aztec and Olmec.

He visits some of the most dangerous, but breathtakingly beautiful, countries as he learns all about the people, the places, the wildlife and the history.

Mexico—4

Next morning, I arrive in Chihuahua City to drink in the glories of Spanish colonial architecture. The city's most famous son was one of the founders of modern Mexico, the revolutionary leader P*, revealed by many as kind of latter-day Robinhood. Starting in 1910 with a group of just 20, by 1914, his army of the North has grown to 45,000 and he triumphed. At a local bar, dedicated to the hero, I get my first taste of the famous local hooch, a M* band and the incuring pride in P*'s revolution.-They probably want to show translation of that. It was a patriotic song, and it basically went,
Mexico, I love you.
Oh, Mexico, my God, I love you.
Oh, how I love you, Mexico.
I want to breathe your air, Mexico.
I want to lie on your ground, Mexico.
I want to surround you myself with your ** plants, Mexico, to make that tequila drink that I love so.
Mexico, you are the true love, all my true love, Mexico.
Mexico, the life.
Mexicana, I love you.
I love you, Mexico.
Mexico, Mexico, Mexico, Mexico.
And did I mention, Mexico?
That's partriotism.
Having lefted the ghost of P*, back in the bar, I'm also going to leave my bus behind and take a short cut to one of the least known natural wonders in all of the Americas.
