HOMEWORK(标蓝处存疑)

Welcome back, everyone. Summer is here. We are talking sun, road trips, barbecues and evidently meaning a lot more snacking. So we brought in Dave Zinczenko, our nutrition and wellness correspondent to help us. Snack starts this summer. First of all, thank you for bringing me food. I’m a big fan of all kinds of food but especially this favorite. So what are the rules when it comes to salt?

Well, you are gonna make your snacking counts, ‘coz Americans, we are snacking 600 calories a day, which is crazy and some of those are meals. So you gotta make them real meals, you gotta make it account. So follow these rules: so when it comes to salty snacks, you want to get a summer tan, you don't want to get orange. Any fluorescent residues usually mean unnatural ingredients. So if you want to take any chips, have those kettle cooked potato chips in front of you.

I can eat these?

Yes.

You let me eat chips?

Yes. And it has just three ingredients, okay? Potatoes, oil and just a touch of sodium. Now, or you can go for baked tortilla chips. They are excellent source of filling fiber and healthy fats and they are about a third the sodium of cheese puffs.

I love crunchy potato chips. Thank you for giving me a permission.

If I'm in the mood for something a little sweet...I'm seeing some yogurt here.

Yeah, but here's the thing, you don't want yogurt that’s made with real fruit. That means it’s just made with a lot of sugar. Sugar absolutely on this program, it’s a scourge. I'm researching a book called "The sugar swap diet" rating 80 grams of sugar a day, that’s 22 teaspoons of added sugar a day. So if you want yogurt with berries don't get a flavored yogurt, that could have four times of sugar. Just add your own. If you want, you can buy the blue berries frozen, they last longer and they'll stay fresh and they're less expensive.

And get whole yogurt too. I know you recommend whole yogurt. Okay, I'm seeing ice cream, frozen, frozen yogurt ice cream. What are we talking about? What are the X parameters?

What we're talking about, if you like peanut butter cup ice cream, just make your own. This is guilt-free.

This is 300 calories. Yeah, I was slaving a way back there.

Oh, my gosh.

Just get original vanilla ice cream with just a few ingredients and then add some melted dark chocolate and peanut butter.

300 calories?

And just make sure your butter has one ingredient--peanuts.
