Our Sarah Husseini(?) from memberstation KQED reports as part of a new White House campaign to undermine theIranian government. Pompeo's presentation as part of the series of speeches ofonline communications meant to erode support for Iran's leaders. TheTrump administration dreams the same dream for the people in Iran as youdo. National Iranian-American Council President Trita Parsi calls it atroubling PR stunt. French Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire sayssince the U.S. was the first to impose penalties, it should be the first to endthem. Maire says he’s calling on the U.S. quote to return to reason. EuropeanCommission President Jean Claude Juncker is due to hold talks with PresidentTrump Wednesday in an effort to deescalate the growing conflict. For NPR News,I’m Terry Shalts in Brussels.

In a strongly worded statement, the UnitedStates is criticizing the peace process in the African country of South Sudan.NPR’s Eyder Peralta reports. The U.S. says it doesn’t have confidence theleaders can make a lasting peace. The international community has been pushingfor an end to enormous 5-year civil war. But the talks have resulted in nothingbecause fighting continues unabated throughout the country. In a statement, theWhite House through called the water on the latest deterioration(?) of apeace deal calling it a quote “narrow agreement between elites that will neversolve the problems of South Sudan”. The U.S. was instrumental in South Sudan’sindependence and it has been the country’s top funder and mediator. It is nowthreatening to walk away if South Sudanese leaders fail to commit to peace.
