NPR"s Wade Goodwin has more on the White House's efforts to try to halt the virus' progression.
President Trump said Americans would be given until July 15th to file their taxes and indicated public school students would be spared standardized testing this summer. Vice President Pence called on Americans to delay in E-medical procedure when it's not urgent.
"We do renew our call for Americans to postpone elective medical procedures, including dental services, by postponing elective medical procedure, you're freeing up medical supplies for those dealing with the coronavirus."
Pence said a member of his staff has tested positive for Covid-19. And that he and his wife would be tested by the end of the day.

Meanwhile countries through Europe are recording large spikes in coronavirus cases as governments do what they can to slow the spread of the virus.
From Berlin, NPR's Rob Smith has more.
There are now more than 130,000 confirmed coronavirus cases throughout Europe with more than a third of them in Italy where the health care system has been strained beyond its capacity. Spain passed a grave milestone Friday when it became the second European country to pass a thousand coronavirus death, a mark Italy passed a week ago. In Germany there are now more than 20,000 confirmed cases what its Disease Control Agency calls "exponential growth", but with only dozens of death due to what authority say its wide spread in-early Covid-19 testing throughout the country. Germany plans to double its intense of care capacity and has introduced new restrictions on movement in the southern state of Bavaria amid warnings that the country could become the next Spain or Italy.

Greece says it's planning to deport nearly 600 migrants who crossed from Turkey to the Greek islands this month. J reports from Athens that the Greek government has suspended asylum applications since early March after standoff with Turkey.
The asylum seekers are from Africa and Asia have been examined by red cross doctors for signs of coronavirus. The migrants will stay in detention until they are deported. Early this month Turkey urged the migrants it was housing to head to the European Union. Greece closed its borders. It pushed back migrants and suspended asylum in contravention of international law.
Joana Cacasis was reporting from Athens. And Greece says also put migrant camps on lockdown in response to the coronavirus pandemic.

A staple of Saturday late night TV is going on // indefinitely. As NPR's Elizabeth Raier roports. Saturday Night Live is one of several shows halt in production, because of the rapid spread of the pandemic.
Saturday Night Live was already scheduled to be off tonight, but was expected to return next week.
A source tells NPR it's not yet clear when the show will return, but one enterprising comedian says he'll attempt to host as for now all by himself from his mama's house.
"Lucky for me, every comedian self-isolating at the moment, that means I got a lot of digital shorts."
XX has no official connection with SNL. He's calling his version a quarantined parody. Other postponed or suspended shows include Graze An Enemy, American Idol, and the Friends Reunion.
XX, NPR news.
And add to that list the // film festival is also cancelling and the daytime Emmy’s is postponing its ceremony because of the pandemic.

Peace Corps'美国和平部队 volunteers are out of work because of the virus. The organization says they'll come back to the US but will be let go, after the Peace Corps suspended volunteer activitie until the pandemic is over. The group says it is working closely with the State Department to bring 7300 volunteers home from 61 countries, and that they will self-quarantined when they get back to the United States. The volunteers will get an evacuation allowance. But pay checkes will end and so will health coverage. Those on ground so are required to return any unspent funds.
