1.  The government virologist filing a whistleblower complaint against the Trump administration could get to return to his old job, while the government watchdog investigation continues. NPR's XX has more.

Rick Bright says he was wrongly ousted from the helm of the federal office designed to deal with pandemics. It's called the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority, or BARDA. Bright says that the administration put cronyism 任人唯亲 over science when it promoted hydroxichloroquine羟化氯喹 as a Covid-19 treatment. The government investigators in the Office of Special Counsel reviewed the whistleblower complaint Bright filed earlier this week. According to Bright's lawyers the OSC said there are reasonable grounds to suspect the administration was retaliating against him when they reassigned him给换岗了. The office will ask that the Department of Health and Human Services let Bright stay at BARDA for 45 days while it investigates his claims.


2.  The Queen addressed the United Kingdom to celebrate the 75th anniversary of Victory in Europe Day. As NPR's XX explains some neighborhoods have socially distant block parties 街区聚会 in the country that remains largely on lockdown.

3.  President Trump says valets who serve food and work around him at the White House will now be required to wear face masks. In an interview on Fox News, President Trump said the White House was taking these steps in response to questions about whether extra precautions should be taken.

"The answer is yes. And they've already started."

President Trump says the case shows that testing does not solve the problem. He noted the military aid had been tested 4 days earlier and was negative at the time. The President said he and the Vice President has since been tested twice and do not have the virus.

4.  In Alabama, Governor Kay Ivey announced that more of the state economy will be open next week while social distancing guidelines remain in place. From Public Radio's XX reports. In addition to lifting business restrictions church services will have limitations removed as well.
Ivey began her press conference by saying in February, record unemployment made the award jobs available in Alabama then people to work them. ??????

"And today, more than 400,000 people are unemployed. They filed their claims with the Department of Labor. Y'all, these are innocent people who have lost their jobs and many of them are folks who are accepting government help for the first time in their lives."

Starting Monday, restaurants, dining rooms, gyms and hair and nail salons will reopen with restrictions to restart economic growth. On the beach and in church services, Alabamans will no longer have to limit meetings to under 10 people.

5.  US Post Office announced another money losing quarter. The postal services sank for the 3 quarters 3 months ending in March lost 4.5 billion dollars.

6.  On Wall Street today the Dow was up 555 points. This is NPR.

7.  While the World Health Organization says a live animal market in Wuhan China likely played a significant role in emergence of the new coronavirus. The organization start short of saying such market should be shut down globally. The UN health group says investigations into the pandemics animal origins continuing in China. It said may be some time though before species is identified. So far China is not invited any WHO experts to be part of that investigation.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation says there was "more than sufficient cause" to arrest two white men for the shooting death of a 25-year-old black man in Georgia. Georgia Public Broadcasting XX has the latest on the death of Ahmaud Arbery.
It's been more than two months since Arbery was shot to death while he ran near his home. It only took 2 days after the GBI got involved before Travis and Gregory McMichael were arrested for aggravated assault and murder charges. GBI director Vic Reynolds said in that short time agents found sufficient probable cause for the arrest.
"I can tell you that if we didn't believe it, we won't arrest them. If we believed it, then we were going to put the braces on, and that’s exactly what we did."
Two district attorneys have accused themselves over the case so far and the earliest the grand jury can meet is mid-June because of the coronavirus. The McMichaels say they were trying to make a citizen's arrest on Arbery when Arbery was killed.

9. Crude oil futures prices continued to follow stocks higher today, oil for June delivery advancing a dollar and 19 a barrel to settle at 24.74 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
