1.    Mourners have been gathering at a Houston church today for a public viewing of George Floyd before his lay to rest tomorrow. Houston Public Media's XX was at the church earlier.

The line at the final public memorial event for George Floyd stretched all the way around the church by noon, the hottest day of the Houston summer approached triple digits by earlier afternoon, but it didn't stop Charls Roberson from waiting his turn to pay his respects.

"I've got see him, it paint a piture in my mind when he was on the ground and the officer was on his neck with his knee. And it hit me right to that moment, and instantly I thought grieving inside."

Roberson and others are saying the moment is providing sense of closure, but also inspiration for change and reform. One elderly woman added she's there because that could have been her son. Members of the Houston Police Department arrived to pay their respects along with Govr Greg Abbott who came to the church after visiting with the Floyd family.


2.    Among ongoing protests over the death of George Floyd, law makers in Congress today unveiled legislation designed to make police more carnival for their actions into the communities they serve. House and Senate Democrats also held a moment of silence in the Capitol to pay tribute to Floyd and others who have died at the hands of police.  Dubed "the Justice and Policing Act", a  measure that would overhaul legal protections for police, set new standards for police training and create a national database to track excessive force episodes.


3.    PT is pushing back against calls by some activists to disband or defund police departments. As NPR's XX explains, the ongoing course of defunding the police is echoing to the nationwide protests against police brutality sparked by the death of Floyd.

After the majority of the Minneapolis City Council expressed support for dispending the city's police department, PT accused them of abandoning the police.

"So we are going to discussing some ideas, and some concepts and somethings. But we won't be defunding our police, we won't be dismantling our police."

T was speaking during a law enforcement round table with local, state, and federal law enforcement. He said the WH is considering proposals to respond to Floyd's death, but did not give specifics. He said there may be a way to do things in a more gentle fashion.


4.    The official arbiter of recessions in the US says the economy peaked in February. The top economist at the National Bureau of Economic Research, whose job is to determine when a recession starts and ends, says the 128 months extension, the longest on record can go to end that month, the economy contracting sharply during the first quarter of this year.

6.    The UN is releasing 140 million dollars from its emergency fund to help Democratic Republic of Congo tackle Ebola, cv, and other health crisis. XX in Geneva reports,  humanitarian operations in DRC "are in dire straits 处于困境水深火热中". And the UN has received only 13% of this year's 2-billion-dollar appeal.

The UN reports, the global focus on the C19 pandemic has dried up international support for humanitarian operations in the DRC. UN spokesman XX says, the fight against C19 must not be waged at the expense of other critical health needs.

"The event of the cvp, doesn't magically do a way, with all the previous human ....... problems. They are still there, and they haven't diminished."

The DRC is the site with a myriad大量的 of problems, besides the cv, it has to tackle the re-emergence of the deadly Ebola virus and the world's largest measles outbreak.


7.    US Attorney-General William Barr today said there were no current plans to extradite Britain's Prince Andrew to the US for question in connection with sex crimes involved in the late financier Jeffrey Epstein. Asked in a Fox interview today whether the US had requested Andrew's extradition, Barr said he don't think it's a question of handing him over and think it's a question of having and provide evidence. US prosecutors have claimed the Prince have launched refuse to cooperate with the investigation. But Prince Andrew's legal team has said they have offered help several times.
Epstein was found hanging in his jail cell while awaiting trial.
