1.    The Supreme Court has determined the Trump adm acted arbitrarily in trying to end the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals Program. NPR's XX says, todays's ruling came down to a 5-4 vote.

Chief Justice John Roberts, and the Hight Court's four liberal justices have handed the trump adm a major defeat. The court maority says the decision to wind down DACA three??? years ago is subject to judicial reviw, and the rationale offeered by the Homeland Security Department failed to condider key aspects of the program. Nearly 650,000 ppl, commonly known as "dreamers", have won temporary relief from deportation under DACA. The Program allows them to work and go to school if they meet certain requirements and pass a backgroud check. Many of them have gone on to work in healthcare and the legal profession and they've given birth to their own children in the United States.

2.    Some Republicans were quick to criticize the Supreme Court deicsion. PT put a message on Twitter after the court's rulling saying, "Do you get the impression the Supreme Court doesn't like me?"
It was the second major decision to go against the adm this week. An earlier decision upheld workplace discrimination protections for lesbian, gay and transgender individuals. Texas Senator Ted Cruz called the DACA decision disgraceful, attacking Chief Justice John Roberts personally.

"Judging is not a game. It's not supposed to be a game. But sadly, over recent years, more and more, Chief Justice Roberts, has been playing games with the court to achieve the policy outcomes he desires."

Roberts, a conservative judge who was nominated by George W. Bush, has pointed out justices are "not politicians in robes".

3.    A studdy of more than 20,000 hospitalized Covid-19 patients has revealed a treatment which so called convalescent plasma is safe and may even help prevent death. NPR's XX has this story.

Convalescent plasma is donated by patients who were once sick with Covid-19 and have recovered. The plasma contains antibodies that help the doner recover from the disease. So the idea is giving those antibodies to someone who is sick whould help them recover. The studdy of the treatment published in the Journal Mayo Clinic Proceedings was designed to answer the question "does the plasma therapy cause any harm?". And in a diverse population of Covid-19 patients the answer is it does not. There were hence the therapy was helpful but proof of that awaits results from future studdies.

6.    In a 44-page report entitled the top words like "We're dogs"______ , Human Rights Watch has documented that French police's abuse against minorities continues. NPR's XX reports, it focuses on police targeting children in ID checks.

The rights organization says French police have bred anger and resentment toward law enforcement from a very young age by treating young people with disrespect. Though France does not keep racial, religious or ethnic statistics, the report says ppl of African and Arab descent are stoped and checked in a much higher rate than the rest of the population.

In this video released with the report, 13-year-old Jiamao said he was forced to stop at 9 or 10. It didn't seem normal for police to be putting down a 10-year-old, he says.

Another witness HJ says her young son was searched for drugs. It just takes one control when your son is humiliated to make him feel that he does not belong to sociaty she says. And that's terrible for a mother.
