1.    New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut now say beginning immediately they'll require travellers to self-quarantine for 2 weeks after they arrive from states where cv is spreading aggressively. Here's NPR's XX.

The 3 region of the northeast was once the epicenter of the pandemic in the United States. Tens of thousands of people in the area have died from Covid-19. Now that the infection rates here are plummeting. Governors say they can't risk another spike in cases caused by people travelling from States like Florida and Texas where infections are surging. Ned Lamont is Governor of Connecticut.

"Places within some of these states where you have a positivity rate of 20, 30, 40 percent, if you come to CT, u come to NY, u come to NJ, u come safely and u follow the protocols starting with the quarantine."

State officials here say thry'll add other states to the mandatory quarantine list if more than 10% of their cv test come back positive.



2.    As the world moves towards reopening a number of countries to business in tourism, it's looking increasingly likely Americans are not going to be welcomed there due to the spread of the cv and a ban by PT of European visitors. More than 15 m Americans traveled to Europe each year, but with the US seen the highest number of infections and virus-related deaths worldwide by far, European leaders are concerned about the possibility of spikes in infection rates if they allow US visitors in.



3.    The UN Secretary General calls it a “water shed moment” in Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Israel may soon annex parts of the West Bank. US says it's up to Israel to decide. NPR's XX reports.

At the UN Security Council diplomats are expressing alarm at the possibility of Israel annexing parts of the occupied West Band. UN Secretary General, Antonio Guterres calls it a serious violation of international law that would undercut the prospect of Palestinian statehood. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo takes a different approach.

"Decisions about Israelis extending sovereignty to those places are decisions for the Israelis to make. And we are talking to all of the countries in the region about how does we can manage this process forward."

Jordan has said such a move could undermine its peace treaty with Israel.



4.    PT today says he's very happy about a US Appeals Court decision to direct a Federal Judge to drop a criminal case against his former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn. In a 2-1 decision the US Court of Appeals from the District of Columbia Circuit ruled in favor of Flynn and the administration. Offending_____ District Judge Emmet Sullivan is emphasizing his discretion on whether to grant the Department's motion to clear Flynn who pleaded guilty of lying to the FBI.

6.    US safety officials now say they require all Boeing 737 Max airliners to be inspected for a manufacturing defect on engine coverings they say could lead to a loss of power during flights. In a notice today officials say inspections and repairs, if needed, will be required before the planes allowed to fly again. Federal Aviation Administration says the problem is not related to the flight control system that caused two planes to crash, killing 346 people and resulting in the grounding of the Boeing 737 Max since March of 2019.



7.    Two of the world's top 5 ranked golfers have withdrawn from the PGA tour's last stop in Cromwell, Connecticut because of reasons related to cv. XX has that story.

Brooks Koepka, who ranks number 4 in the world, didn't test positive, but his caddie did, so Koepka has pulled out. And Webb Simpson ranked 5th and the winner of last week's tournament withdrew as a precaution. Tour commissioner Jay Monahan says he told the golfers this week about new safety protocols.

"We have to be proactive and do everything we can to keep that positive number as small as possible and that really is. It's about executing our health and safety program."

Monahan says consequence will be significant to those on the tour who don't follow the new and the existing protocols.



8.    The National Highway Traffic Safety Commission says it's now looking into problems with electric vehicle maker Tesla's large touchscreens. The NTSB is saying that its investigation found failures in the screen in 2012-2015 Tesla Model S vehicles.
