The U.S Senate Judiciary Committee has approved President Trump's nominee for the Supreme Court Amy Coney Barrett, after Democrats Senators boycotted the hearing. A full vote will take place in the Senate next week. The senior democrat Charles Schumer condemned the process as illegitimate.
President Trump and his Democratic rival Joe Biden have arrived in Nashville for tonight's presidential debate. It's the final and potentially most influential debate of the election campaign. Last week's debate was dropped after Mr. Trump was diagnosed with coronavirus.
The Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari has called for an end to protests against police brutality, which have led to widespread unrest. In a televised address, Mr. Buhari made no mention of shooting of protesters in Lagos on Tuesday, which has been blamed on the military.
Mexico has reached a deal to provide watery tolls to the United States despite widespread protests by Mexican farmers. A bilateral treaty says the two countries must share water. But the U.S says Mexico has recently not been fulfilling the agreement.
The U.S Food and Drug Administration has approved the antiviral drug Remdesivir for the treatment of patients with Covid-19 in hospital. It's manufacturer Gilead says it's the first drug to be approved in the United States for treating the coronavirus.
France has reported a record of more than 41,600 new coronavirus cases over the past day. It's extending a night curfew to new areas.
The Sri Lanka's parliament has passed an amendment to the country's constitution, transferring its extensive powers to President Gotabaya Rajapaksa. The move means the President's brother Basil will now be able to entry the parliament. Another brother Mahinda is Prime Minister. |
