With California’s 45 electoral votes now cast, Joe Biden has officially secured the votes to become the next president of the United States. As NPR's XX reports, Congress is slated to count the votes and complete the process in January.
  The next step in the complicated Electoral College timeline is a meeting of Congress on January 6th. The outcome is certain. But President Trump and his allies say they will continue fighting the results. The campaign and its supporters have filed dozens of unsuccessful lawsuits and alleged fraud in the voting system, but none has presented any meaningful evidence. Ohio Northern University Professor Robert Alexander.

  After that final formal count, Joe Biden will then be inaugurated as the 46th president on January 20th.

Democratic leaders in Georgia cast all 16 of that state's Electoral College votes for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris today. It's the first time the state is awarded its votes to a Democrat since 1992. XXX, from member station WABE in Atlanta reports, Georgia's election is still not over as early voting in its Senate runoffs was also began today.
  Former candidate for Governor XX was elected to leave the meeting in the Georgia state capital.
  This has been a moment long time and coming. but we believe that we are in the right place at the right time.
  The official vote took place just 1 floor above an unofficial 1 held by the Republican electoral for President Trump who's refusing to concede. Despite President-elect Joe Biden victory, the political battle in Georgia is still raging. 2 Senate runoffs here will determine control of the chamber and Biden is set to visit Georgia tomorrow to stump for Democrats XX and XX.

President Trump has just announced that Attorney General William Barr will be leaving his post before Christmas to be replaced on an Acting Basis by Deputy AG XX.

United Auto Workers Union will avoid a federal takeover under terms of a deal worked out with US attorney's office that will be independent monitored to help root out corruption.  Members will decide if they'll vote directly on the union's leadership under a reform agreement. Some follows a wide ranging federal corruption probe at the 400,000 member union. Government's investigation of bribery and embezzlement in the union's upper ranks ultimately led to 11 convictions, including 2 former UAW presidents.

The British government is ordering pubs and restaurants in London to close all indoor and outdoor dining starting Wednesday, because Covid-19 is growing exponentially指数地 in the British capital. NPR's XX has more from London.
  Pubs and restaurants will close except for takeaway and delivery and people can only meet those outside their households outdoors. This month, thousands of gyms in central London shopping districts, many have not worn masks. UK Health Secretary XX spoke in Britain's House of Commons.
  "I know these steps are hard, but we must not waver as we enter the final stretch so that when we look back on this time crisis, we can all say that we played our part.
Hancock said London hospitals are at risk of being overwhelmed. The government has begun rolling out the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine and family practices. But officials say the UK may not turn the corner on Covid until summer.

Canada has been giving out its first doses of a coronavirus vaccine. Frontline health care workers on Ontario安大略省 are getting the vaccine in one of the hospitals there today.
