President-elect Biden is back on the campaign trail today. NPR's Windsor Johnston reports, Biden is in Atlanta trying to rally support for the 2 Democratic senate candidates. Next month Georgia runs off elections, and the state is so high. "Hello Georgia. It's great to be back. It really is." President-elect Biden told the voters at this drive-in rally that they're not of ***. "You know, you all did something extraordinary in November. You voted in record numbers. You voted to improve the life of every Georgian. And you voted as if your life depended on it. Well, guess what, now you've got to do it again!" Biden is campaigning on behalf of Democrats Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock, who are attempting to unseize Republican incumbent Kelly Leoffler and David Perdue. The outcome of January's runoff elections will determine control of the senate. Windsor Johnston, NPR news.

With coronavirus cases spiking again in California, Governor Garvin Newsom is calling it "the most intense moment" since the start of the pandemic. Health officials are saying the state has been seeing 32,000 new coronavirus cases a day. Newsom said even area hospitals were not overwhelmed, the same number's moving in the wrong direction. "San Joaquin Valley was at 0% over the weekend. And it goes without saying when you're at 5.7% of your ICUs available. And they're filling up quickly." Newsom says a mass-fatality program is being put in place in the state including refrigerated trucks standing by at some hospitals, ahead of the rising number of coronavirus deaths. 163 people are dying in California every day from Covid-19. US death toll is now piercing 303,000.

And over-the-counter at-home test with the coronavirus is expected to be on store-sale soon, the Food & Drug Administration is giving its blessing - the 1st home test consumer can buy without a prescription. From the Australian company the kit allows users to utilize a swab test and get their own results in about 20 minutes.

Stocks closed higher today with all the major indexes ceased up more than 1%. Here's NPR's Scott Horsley. Hopes for a new round of coronavirus relief and speedy approval of the 2nd covid vaccine helped push stocks higher. The Dow climbed up more than 1.1%, the board of S&P 500 has jumped nearly 1.3%. As to the NASDAQ, closing at a new record height. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi called the media with top Republicans and Democrats from both of the House and Senate to discuss additional relief measures. Advisory Panel from the Food & Drug Administration is said to consider Moderna experimental vaccine on Thursday. Federal Wildlife officials are determining that Monarch Butterflies deserving endangered species protection but won't get them. NPR's Nathan Rott reports, it's because other species are being given higher priority. Monarch Butterflies population has been in its deep decline in American Continent for decades. Eastern population has dropped by about 80% since just the mid-1990s. And western population are even worse-shaped. After a multiyear analysis, US Official Wildlife Services found that Monarch Butterflies do warrant protection under the Endangered Species Act, but making that happen takes resources and other species are ahead of it on the priority list. The agency made a similar determination with northern spotted owl the day before. Both species are now on the waiting list for possible federal protection. Wildlife crews are warning though with climate-changing and inhabit-loss only ramping up, neither species can afford to wait too long. Nathan Rott, NPR news.

Big tech firms are facing hefty fines in both Britain and the European Union if they compete unfairly or fail to protect consumers who use their platforms. This under terms are sweeping new regulation proposed today, long expected reform of digital regulation are being made separately by Britain and the EU but both *** in powerful tech firms and policing all from materials online. Some of the rules contain the proposal allows fines up to 10% of the company's annual global revenues.

Crude oil futures prices fall *** stocks higher today. Oiling section's up 63 cents a barrel, to close at $47.62 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
