1. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell says Congress reached a deal today on a 900-billion dollars coronavirus relief package. Speaking from the Senate floor, McConnell says they can report what people have been asking for months that help is on the way.
"Moments ago, in consultation with our committee, the 4 leaders of the Senate and House finalized an agreement. It would be another major rescue package for the American people. As our citizens continue battling this coronavirus this holiday season, they will not be fighting alone."
Yet/It's includes/unclear though when the bill text will be released or when the Chambers will vote. Government funding is set to run out at midnight so/when another stop-gap spending bill may be needed first. Congressmen/Congress has been and/in talks that/to help the millions of people out of work because of the pandemic, and the millions of small businesses reeling from the economic damages of the coronavirus for months.
2. Several European countries are banning passenger flights from the UK after a new variant of coronavirus was detected. As Esme Nicholson reports, the new strain has also been found in the Netherlands, Denmark and Austria/Australia.
From/France, Germany, an/and island/Ireland are among the latest EU member states to hold/halt the incoming flights from the UK starting at midnight local time, following /similar news/moves... in Italy, the Netherlands and Belgium. A highly contagious variant of coronavirus called B117 is spreading rapidly throughout the southeast of England. Citing modeling data, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said Sunday that the strain appears to be up to 70% more infectious. The World Health Organization is currently consulting the Unite Kingdom health authorities, tries to obtain *** what impact the B117 strain could have on the pandemic and towards/to what extent to defect the celebrity/severity of the disease.

3. As the number of coronavirus cases surges across the US, hospitalization in many states are to/ rising to critical levels, putting incredible strain in/on hospitals. In California, some facilities are considering rationing care. As NPR's Kat Lonsdorf has more.
Hospitals across the state are juggling resources to keep up with the surging Covid-19 cases. Much of the state is under stay-at-home orders while intensive care units are filling up. In southern California, which has been hit especially hard, ICU capacity is full. In a document obtained by the Los Angeles Times, several hospitals run by LA County are preparing for the possibility of rationing care. Meaning those less likely to survive would no longer receive the same level of care they would otherwise. More than 17,000 people are currently hospitalized with Covid-19 in the state, while more than 22,000 Californians have died. Kat Lonsdorf, NPR news.
And overall in the US, there are more than 17.8 million confirmed cases of coronavirus according to data from Johns-Hopkins University.

4. Which/With is/ just a month ago/to go before President-elect Joe Biden's swore-in, the Trump Campaign is once again asking the Supreme Court to overturn the results of the November 3rd election. The latest lawsuit seeks to reverse three Pennsylvania Supreme Court cases, but after the mail-in ballots. But even if Trump won, it wouldn't matter, Biden would still be the winner because of his wide margin of victory in electoral votes. This is the latest in a long line of lawsuits that Trump Campaign has lost, since President Trump lost the election.
5. Senator Joe Manchin says veterans including those at all 4 VA medical centers in West Virginia, will get a share of the initial allocation of Moderna's coronavirus vaccine, that started shipping out today. NPR's Dave Mistich has more.
Manchin says the Department of Veteran Affairs told him all 4 the agency's medical centers in West Virginia have been selected to receive an initial allocation of the Moderna vaccine. The VA is planning to begin distributing the newly authorized vaccine as early as this week. Manchin sent a letter last week calling on the department to address the exclusion of many war/rural veterans, including those in West Virginia from the VA distribution plan. While acknowledging some would just go challenges, Manchin noted that of the 73,000 Pfizer vaccine doses initially received by 37 VA hospitals, none was in his home state.

This is as the CDC says the next round of vaccine should go to those over 75 and also to frontline workers including police, fire-fighters, teachers and grocery store workers.
