我觉得解释应该是这样: 这也许是件好事越来越多的人不在用餐者中间举行投票,但是,这样或许会使摆脱political pork成为不可能.

主要以前Tampa Bay很烂的，是个烂队，在过去十年的美国职棒联盟东部赛区10年垫了9次底，上赛季输了96场比赛，上上个赛季输了101场，过去十年平均每赛季输97场，是个十足的烂队。

 

而现在居然和上届冠军波士顿红袜队对决美国职棒决赛，而且后来还赢了，成为冠军进军世界职棒联赛。当这个新闻播出的时候他们第7场还没打。但是Tampa Bay能走到这一步真的是咸鱼翻身了（Worst-to-first）

关于Halliburton这个词还是有点来历的：Halliburton这个公司是个很大的能源企业（主要是石油和天然气），因为和小布什政府，以及伊拉克战争有着千丝万缕的联系而备受争议。Dick Cheney出来做副总统之前就是Halliburton的CEO，所以反对者认为伊拉克战争也和维护Halliburton这些企业利益有关，而不惜牺牲美国人民的金钱和生命。这里是用了借代的手法，Halliburton泛指那些挑起战争而从中获利的企业，那些布什政府为之服务的财团。

这个没有错，听不出来这个词只有继续下功夫练

 

至于这个实验，其实是很有意思的：研究人员给一半参与者一杯热的咖啡，给另一半参与者一杯冷咖啡，然后向他们描述一个假设的人的性格等各方面的特点，然后让参与者重新描述那个假设的人。

 

结果显示，拿到热咖啡的人与拿到冷咖啡的人相比，更倾向于把那个人描述的和蔼可亲，慷慨大方。

 

这个非常有实用性，比如说你去blind date, 给对方点热饮会使对方对你的好感增加，增加你的机会。 相反的，我们也可以自卫，比如这是家长包办你急于脱身的话，就给对方点个冷饮。

1. Churn through更确切的意思应该是如飓风般的席卷而过,一般用来形容飓风席卷而过某某地区: Hurricane Ike churns through Caribbean. Ike飓风翻江倒海式的席卷而过加勒比海.

这里人多,因此有人山人海的意思在里面,所以可以和海联系起来，又因为他们貌似都是愤青,因此很激动,因此是翻腾的海. 他们人又多又冲动,自然是席卷而过这个hall. 个人就是这么理解.

2. swept up（in something）是习语，意思是突然被涉及(卷入)到某事中去，在这里就是说这个小朋友突然被卷入无情的暴力
