In Malaysia the opposition democratic action party has oustered  the ruling national front coalition in the northern state of Malay during general elections saturday. Officials and media say the democratic action party is leading in races for at least 17 of the 40 seats in the state legislature .Other opposition parties are expexted to win at least 6 other seats in Penang.The opposition Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party will keep control of the northeastern state of Kelantan.Since voting started early saturday there have been accusations of violence and tends to illegally influence the vote.

 

 

Iraqi security forces have found 100 dead bodies in a large burial area north of Baghdad.It is one of the largest burial areas found in the country in months.American and Iraqi officials did not say who was responsible for the grave or who the victims were.

In other news American and Iraqi officials are expected to hold talks in Baghdad on agreements that will guide future relations between the two countries.The talks are aimed at reaching two main ageements.Officials say one ageement will be a guiding plan for American and Iraqi relations.The other agreement would provide a legal presence for having American forces on Iraqi territory.

 

 

Iraqi President Jalal Talabani is urging Turkey to invest in his country as part of a cooperative relationship.Mr.Talabani met with a group of Turkish investers saturday in Ankara.He told the group that Iraq wants to establish relations in every area including economic,political and cultural.The President says Iraq is prepared to support Turkish companies in every area of the country.Mr.Talabani is in Turkey  to ease tensions caused by the offensive last month by the Turkish military into northern Iraq.

 

 

In Afghanistan thousands of people demonstrated saturday they were protesting the publication in Denmark of a cartoon picture of the Prophet Mohammed. Demonstrators in Harat called out words "denouncing Denmark" for insulting Islam.The picture was one of 12 that led to riots across the Moslem world when they were first published in 2006.Several Danish newspapers pubilished the picture again to show support for it's artist.Police recently learned about a plot to kill the artist.Moslems consider any images of the Prophet to be a sign of disrespect.
