[1] Afghan and coalition officials say a suicide bomber has attacked vehicles carrying American troops in Kabul. Officials said the bomber killed six civilians and wounded at least 37 other people. Officials say four American soldiers traveling in the vehicles suffered minor injuries. The bomb exploded along a road near the airport in the Afghan capital. The Taliban has claimed responsibility for the attack. Also Thursday Afghan officials say another bomb killed three Afghan police in Wardak province, southwest of Kabul. Four other officers were wounded.
[2] Iraqi police say at least seven people have been killed in a bomb attack in central Baghdad. At least twenty others were reported wounded. Security reports say a car with the bomb exploded in the Bab al-Sharji area of Baghdad. In recent weeks resistance fighters have increased violent attacks in the Iraqi capital. Last week nearly 70 people were killed in two bombings in a business area. In other news an Italian Catholic news agency says a Chaldean Catholic archbishop has been found dead near the Iraqi city of Mosul. The news agency reports the kidnappers of Paulos Faraj Rahho had buried his body. The religious leader was seized in Iraq late last month. At the Vatican, Pope Benedict said he is deeply saddened by the death.
[3] Suspected Palestinian militants in the Gaza Strip have fired more than ten rockets at southern Israel. Several rockets landed in the Israeli town of Sderot late Wednesday and early Thursday. No injuries were reported. Israeli airplanes answered by striking a Palestinian rocket launcher in northern Gaza. No injuries were reported in the air strike. The rocket attacks and air strikes ended five days of calm in Gaza. The attacks have threatened the possibility for a more official truce negotiated by Egypt.

[5] Indian officials say four people were killed and several others injured during violent protests Thursday in Assam state. Officials said more than two thousand demonstrators clashed with police in the Chirang area. They said the demonstrators gathered to protest the tearing down of an office set up by the separatist National Democratic Front of Bodoland. The government has said the office was set up illegally. Indian officials say police attempted to calm the angry crowd by halting the demonstration. But some demonstrators began setting fires. Police then began firing weapons to separate the crowd. The four people were killed in the gunfire.
