Good Friday afternoon to you, I'm Naamua Delaney at the CNN Center in Atlanta. Here's a look at what's happening NOW IN THE NEWS.

US war planes have struck several targets in Basra and Sadar city in the fight between Iraqi forces and Shiite militants. President Bush calls it a defining moment in the war. Meanwhile, mortar or rocket attacks in the international zone, commonly known as the Green Zone killed 2 guards in the office of Iraq's vice President. At least a hundred have been killed since the offensive began 4 days ago.

And there is a new offer from Colombia's government. It has offered to free hundreds of jailed guerrillas if the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia frees hostages including Ingrid Betancourt, the former Colombian Presidential candidate has been held by FARC rebels for the past 6 years. She is said to be gravely ill.

The FDA is investigating a possible link between the popular allergy and asthma drug Singulair and suicide. It says the review was prompted by 3-4 suicide reports it received before Oct. The drug's maker MRK says none of the 11,000 people in Singulair trials committed suicide. MRK says Singulair has been marketed in the US for 10 years, and millions of people have been prescribed to the drug.

The opening of the new terminal at London's Heathrow Airport is turning into a public relations disaster. Baggage problems, delays and flight cancellations have plagued it since it opened Thursday. British Airways canceled 20% of its flights from the Terminal today. The new terminal cost more than 8.5 billion dollars to build.

Delta expects its flights schedule to start getting back to normal today. Delta and American Airlines canceled 400 flights yesterday. They are inspecting wiring on some of their planes. Those inspections should be finished this week.

Well those’re the headlines this hour. Stay with CNN for more on these stories and the other news of the day.

The Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia – People’s Army (Spanish: Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia – Ejército del Pueblo)The origins of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) can be traced back to a period in Colombia known as La Violencia (1948-1958) or "The Violence" which was sparked by the assassination of George Eliecer Gaitan, a presidential candidate and progressive liberal leader who fought for the rights of the landless masses. La Violencia was a long and brutal battle between the pro-reform Liberals and the Conservatives who were sponsored by the elite landowners and miners that wanted to maintain a strong alliance between the church and the state. During this period, more than 200,000 deaths were recorded.

Ingrid Betancourt:a French-Colombian political woman. She was kidnapped almost 6 years ago, while she came in the presidency of Colombia. In spite of all suffering of her situation, she survives thanks to the hope of seeing again her family.
