home work

homework There are many American expressions about insects. Like bees for example. Bees are known as very hard workers. They always appear to be busy, moving around there homes or pipes. So you might say you were as busy as a bee if you spend your weekend cleaning your house. In fact you might say your house was a bee hive about activity if the whole family were helping you clean. You also might say you made a bee line for something if you went there right away. When we go to see a movie my friend always makes a bee line for the place where they sell popcorn. Here is an expression about bees. It’s not used anymore but we like it anyway. We think it is 1st used in 1920s.It’s some estimated kind the bee’s knees .Now we admitted that we don’t know how this expression developed .In fact we even don’t know if bees have knees. If a friend doesn’t stop talking to you something because she thinks it is important, you might say she has a bee in her bonnet. If someone ask you a personal question you might say “That is none of your bee’s lacks”, which means it is none of your business. Speaking of personal questions there’s an expression people sometimes used when their children ask “Where do babies come from?” parents who discuss sex & reproduction say “This is talking about the birds & the bees” Hornets, a bee like insect, they sometimes attack people . If you are really angry you are mad as a hornet. And you stir up a hornet’s nest you create trouble or problems. Butterfly is a beautiful insect. But nobody want to have a butterfly in his stomach that means to be nervous about having to do something like speaking in front of a crowd. You also don’t want ants in your pants. That is to be restless & unable to sit still. Here are some expressions about ..bugs, another word for insects. If a friend keeps asking you to do something that you do not want to do, you may say “Leave me alone” or “Stop bugging me” your friend might tell you again & again to do something, you may say “He put a bug in your ear” If you are reading a book in a warm bed on a cold winter’s day, you are snug as a bug in a rug. And if you wish someone goodnight you might say “Sleep tight, don’t le the bad bugs bite”
