The Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the attack harms Pakistan's cooperation with the coalition in the war against terrorism. The United States military officials say coalition forces were attacking Taliban militants. But they said Pakistan had been informed of plans for the airstrike.

 

[2] The United States military says more than 500 resistance fighters in central Iraq have surrendered their weapons. Military officials say the surrender began about three weeks ago in the Balad area northwest of Baghdad. An American commander in the area called this an important step in helping the former fighters rejoin their communities. Also Wednesday Iraqi officials say at least five people were killed and ten others wounded in a bomb explosion in northern Baghdad.

 

[3] President Bush says he regrets his choice of words before the American invasion of Iraq. The president said the comments made him appear as what he called a guy really anxious for war. Mr. Bush said his use of expressions like dead or alive and bring them on let people think he was not a man of peace. Taiwan's top negotiator Chiang Pin-kung is leading the 19-member delegation. The group includes some top Taiwanese government officials. During the three-day visit, the two sides are expected to sign an agreement to let more Chinese citizens visit Taiwan. The agreement would also begin normal flights between China and Taiwan on Saturdays and Sundays.
