    Finance ministors from the group of 8 industrialized nations have ended a two-day meeting in Osaka,Japan. The  group released the statement on the finance issues including oil and food prices,trouble finacial markets and climate change. The statement called for urgent cooperated action to answer climate change. The United States, Britain and Japan led an effort to establish a 10 billion dollar program for cleaN technology. The program will be organized and operated by World Bank. It will help developing countries like India and China pay for cleaner ways to produce engery.

 

    A powerful earthquake struck northern Japan early Saturday. The quake killed at least 6 people and injured more than 100 others. At least 8 people are still missing. Official say the earthquake measured 7.2 on the rank/Rich scale  

It was centered in the Iwaty areas about 400 kilometers north of Tokyo.

 

    Burmas says 11 people were killed Wednesday and Thursday when landslides caused by heavy rain crashed the homes. The state newspaper says Saturday that 7 men and 4 women died when their homes collapsed in the town of Mogou in center Burma. Flood waters rose after/up to 1 meter after the area received 20 centermeter of rain.

 

    In Inida heavy rains and landslides has killed at least 14 people and injured more than 30 others in northeastern  India. A local official in the state of ALwelatur say the number of death is expected to increase as heavy rain continued near the state captial Itelage. The rain has cut off the area from the rest of state and created problems with rescue operation. 

 

    Chinese official say 19 workers died Friday when landslide in the northern city of Liuyan buried a facorty.

The official Xinhua News Agency said the landslide hit the building when people were inside working. Recuse workers are using earthmoving equipment to search for survivors.

 

    Chinese official say 27 miners have been found dead after an explosion in a coalmine in northern Shanxi province. 9 members were rescued and 15 escaped.  More thant 100 rescu are attempitng to save 7 coal miners still traped in the mine. The State Operated Xinhua News Agency says the explosive at mine will accidently set off. The news agency also says the mine passed recent saftey inspections.
