Our ESPN colleague Jeremy Schaap sat down with Phelps and calls him "serene", like a man who achieved everything he'd hoped to, which of course is exactly what he did. Here are some of their conversations.

Jeremy Schaap of ESPN did a great interview that aired on ABC’s “Good Morning America”:

Jeremy Schaap:
What do you think separates the people who are merely gifted from those like you, who in this instance, won?

Michael Phelps: For me when I watch other sports, when I watch Tiger, when I watch Federer, when I watch Nadal, the best athletes can compete under any circumstances. No matter what it is, no matter what the pressure, you can always overcome anything that gets put in your way. When Jordan was sick, he still put up 60 points.

Jeremy Schaap: You won the 100m Butterfly by one one-hundredth of a second. What were you thinking about the role of fate, the role of luck?

Michael Phelps: After the race, Crocker said to me, he goes: "You have to have angels with you or something." He goes, "I have no idea what it is", and I feel that, yeah, there has to be luck in it, there has to be some luck in it. Everything has to go pretty much perfect for me to be able to do what I just did.

Jeremy Schaap: You've got eight gold medals now. Where are they?

Michael Phelps: That's a great question. I saw them earlier, I think my agent has them. I put them all on this morning and it looked pretty cool. They looked pretty cool on, it was a pretty neat feeling.

Jeremy Schaap (off camera): You put them on just to see them, or it was a photo shoot?

Michael Phelps: Just to see them.

Jeremy Schaap: You're 23, you're achieved everything you wanted to achieve, what are your goals now?

Michael Phelps: I want to change the sport of swimming. I look up to Michael Jordan and what he did in the sport of basketball, how he completely changed it. This sport has changed my life in so many ways, and I just want other people to be able to be part of that.

You think separates the people who are merely gifted from those like you who in this instance won? 这句话什么意思?请教!看不懂啊,谁能剖析一下?成分就不管了,真正意思是什么?

这是主持人问phelps的一个问题,从句子的结构来说很难看出句子的意思.,我认为不妨这样处理You think(how to) separates the people who are merely gifted from those like you who in this instance won?

这是我的理解, pls correct it if it is uncorrect.
