This city of 300, 000 people flooded twice in the last week, first from Tropical Storm Hanna, and then from Hurricane Ike. The only access into Gonaives right now is by helicopter or by boat. USS Kearsarge has eight helicopters and three amphibious landing craft. Officials say the US navy vessel will be used to move tons of clean water, food and relief equipment from the capital Port-au-Prince into Gonaives. A former associate of lobbyist Jack Abramoff has been indicted by a federal grand jury. Abramoff last week was sentenced to four years in prison on corruption charges. Kevin Ring was a lobbyist in Abramoff's firm and before that worked for Republican Congressman John Doolittle of California. Doolittle is also being investigated.

 

Roger Federer is once again the US Open Men's tennis champion.

对立的是两伙牧师,自由派的和保守派的,IRS是税务局。按照税法,教会属于可免税的非盈利性机构,但免税的前提是它不能介入政治。现在保守派的牧师要发 起政治布道,自由派就希望税务局来出面干涉,保守派说来得正好,我们欢迎调查,我们正想向联邦法院抗议税务局干涉布道自由呢。明白了?
