US president George Bush says the world's top economic powers have agreed to work together to restore stability and growth to the globally economy. He made remarks after meeting with finance ministers in Washington D.C. for gathering at the Group of 7.

 

"And all of us recognized that this is a serious global crisis, and there for requires a serious global response for the good of our people. We will resolve to continue strong efforts to return our economy to the path of stability and long-term growth. United States has a special role to play in leading a response to this crisis. So I convinced this morning's meeting here to White House and this why our government will continue using all the tools and our disposal to resolve this crisis. At meeting, secretary Paulson has described the bailout actions in the United States is taking over the past few weeks."

 

President Bush says some of those actions include boosting the liquility in the markets and cracking down on the abuses of practices in the markets. The president says financial officials have pledged to support key financial institutions and prevent their failure. He says ministers will work quickly to protect to breing deposits and bring the liquility to financial institutions to unfreeze the credit market, he also said they agreed to ensure taxpayers are protected.

 

Zimbabwe's opposition says a power-sharing deal is in jeopardy after president Robert Mugabe allocated key ministries to his ZANU-PF party. A government notice said Defense ,Home Affairs and financial ministries were appointed to present in ZANU-PF. The opposition Movement for Democratic Change called the move in lateral and said MDC leader Morgan Tsvangirai will address in a rally Sunday in the capital Harare. The appoitments will announce one day after talks with Mr.Mugabe, Mr.Tsvangirai and Arthur Mutambara who heads the breakaway opposition faction. The rival has agreed Friday to ask former South African president Thabo Mbeki to return to Harare to try to break in pass of key minister he will post. A spokesman for Mr.Mbeki says the former president is scheduled to arrive Harare on Monday.

 

The Turkish military says its warplanes and artillery units have bombed 31 Kurdish rebel bases in northern Iraq. A spokesman for Kurdistan Workers' Party, the PKK, says the rebels suffered no casualties in the offensive. Turkish official have been considering new actions against Kurdish rebels following recent attacks on security forces. They killed 24 people including 17 Turkish soldiers. In latest news, Iranian state media say members of Iranian religious militia killed 4 Kurdish separatists in a clash this week near Iraqi border. The fighting took place late Tuesday in the Kurdistan province in western Iran.

 

The founder of Indonesia's Aceh separatists rebel movement returned home today after more than 30 year in exile. Chad Bouchard has the story.

 

Thousands of curious onlookers and former rebel soldiers swarmed from provincial capital of Banda Aceh to witness Hasan di Tiro's historic return. Di Tiro declared independence from Indonesia in 1979 and sparked a conflict that spanned 3 decades and claimed more than 50,000 lives. The 83-year-old is the founder of the Free Aceh Movement also known as GAM. Sri Hartati, a resident of Aceh among the crowd of supporters sees di Toro as a national hero. She says the Acenese are pround to have a person such as him to awaken their patriotic spirit. A peace deal was brokered in 2005, months after the Indian Ocean Tsunami tore through the country and left 160,000 dead or missing.

 

Finland's former president Martti Ahtisaari won the Nobel Peace Prize on Friday for his part in the negotiating the pact. Chad Bouchard for VOA News,Jakarta.

Indian prime minister Manmohan Singh has now agreed Indian Kashmir's first train service have met heavy security and separatists strike protesting his visit. The trains of its covers 170 km but only a 66km portion will be used for the moment. On Friday, 2 people were killed and 75 injured when police fire tear gas at protestors in Indian Kashmir's main city of Srinagar. In recent months, Indian Kashmir has been hit by some of the largest in pro-independent protests since 1989.

 

United States is vowing to remove North Korea from its list of state sponsors of terrorism in exchange for verificaiton plan that would allow US and others countries to monitor the communist country's nuclear disarmament. American diplomats say the decision involves the agreement with Yongbyon and which North Korea agree to US nuclear inspection demands.
