U.S. President George Bush says the world’s top economic powers have agreed to work together to restore stability and growth to the global economy. He met with the workers after meeting with finance ministers who were in Washington D.C. for a gathering of the Group of Seven.

“And all of us recognize that this is a serous global crisis, and therefore require a serous global response, for the good of our people. We resolve and continue our strong efforts to return our economy to the path of stability and long term growth. The United States has a special role to play, in leading the response to this crisis. This is why I convince a meeting here in White House, and this is why our government will continue using all the tools and our disposal to resolve this crisis. Our Meeting Secretary Paulson had described the all actions the United States has taken over the past few weeks.”

President Bush says some of those actions include boosting liquidity and the markets and cracking down the abusive practices in the markets. The president says financial officials have pledged a support key financial institutions and prevent their failure. He says ministers will work quickly to protect big deposits and bring liquidity to financial institutions to unfreeze the credit market, he also says they agree to ensure tax payers are protected.

 

Zimbabwe’s opposition says a power sharing deal is in jeopardy after President Robert Mugabe allocated key ministries to his ZANU-PF party. A government notice said defense home affairs and finance ministries were appointed to the ZANU-PF. The opposition movement for democratic change called the move unilateral. And said MDC leader Morgan Tsvangirai would address the on the rally Sunday in the capital Harare. The appointments were announced one after talks of Mr. Mugabe, Mr. Tsvangirai, and Arthur Mutambara, who heads the breakaway opposition faction. The arrivals have agreed Friday to ask former South African President Thabo Mbeki to return to Harare to try to break a … over key minister of post. A spokesman for Mr. Mbeki says the former president is scheduled to arrive at Harare on Monday.

 

The Turkish military says its war plane and artillery units have bombed 31 Kurdish rebel bases in northern Iraq. A spokesman for the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), says the rebels suffered no casualty in the offensive. Turkish official have been considering new actions against Kurdish rebels, following recent attacks on Security forces, they killed 24 people, including 17 Turkish soldiers.

In latest news, Iran’s state media say members of the Iranian religious militia killed 4 Kurdish separatists in the clashes this week near the Iraqi boarder. The fighting took late Tuesday at the Kurdish-stand province in western Iran.

 

The founder of the Indonesia’s Aceh Separatist’s Movement returned home today after more than 30 years in exile.

Chad Bouchard has the story.

Thousands of curious onlookers and former rebel soldiers swarmed the provincial capital of Banda Aceh to witness Hasan di Tiro's historic return. Di Tiro declared the independence from Indonesia in 1979, and sparked a conflict that spanned 3 decades and claimed more than 15’000 lives. The 83-year-old is the founder of the Free Aceh Movement also known as GAM.

Sri Hartati, a resident of Aceh, are among the supporters sees Di Tiro as a national hero.

She says the Acenese are proud to have a person such as him to awaken their patriotic spirit. A peace deal was brokered in 2005, month after the India Ocean Tsunami tore through the country and left 160’000 dead or missing.

Finland’s former President Martti Ahtisaari won the Nobel Peace Prize on Friday for his part in negotiating a pact.

Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh now agreed an India’s Kashmir’s first train service amid heavy security and separate strike protesting his visit. The train is said covers 117 kilometers belong a 66 kilometers potion will be used for the moment. On Friday, 2 people were killed and 75 injured when police fired tear-gas at protestors in India Kashmir’s main city of Srinagar. In recent month, India’s Kashimir has been hit by some the largest in pro-independence protest since 1989.

 

United States will remove North Korea from its list of states sponsors of terrorism, in exchange for a verification plan, that would allow the U.S. and other countries to monitor the communist country’s nuclear disarmament. American diplomats say the decision falls the agreement with Pyongyang in which North Korea agree to U.S. nuclear inspection demands.
