The study is in the genera health a. Nutrient professor Barry Parken was the lead investigator. He says parents should limited snacks to one a day for children aged 6 and older. He also advices parents and care givers to provide healthy snack like fruits and vegetables.

Professor Parken says American schools also need to improve their nutrients. There has been a push for schools to offer more healthful snacks and lunch choices and fewer sugary drink.

Earlier this month, Coca-cola said it would sotp selling  sugary drinks in American schools unless parents requist them. Its competitor Pepsy just announced that they would stop sells of sugary drinks to schools world wide. American's top public health care officer wants to see more changes like these. Surgen general Raggina Benjamin rencently  spoke to law makers about making healthy food more available.

"It's a growing conscience that we as a nation need to recreact our communnities and  environments. What's the healthy choices, are the easy choices and affordable choices."

Agriculture secretary Tom Bill said who has told about his own childhood strugle with weight agrees about the needs.

"We need to do a much better job of making sure was it in the vender machine is very consistent. We think that the time is come for standards."

First lady Michelle Obama is leading a compaign to fight childhood obesity.  Public health professors reported in January that 17% of American children are severely  overweight.
