Researchers say that American children now eat a average three snacks a day between meals. A study found that those snakes add up to almost one third of all the daily calories eaten by children. And those extra calories could help explain the wides in over weight children in the United States. The study was done by the university of north California chapel hill. The researchers studied of 31000 children age to 2 to 18 over a thirty year period. They found the the snacking had increased since the 1970s. And what kind of snake has increased most? Salty high light foods like chips. The study also found the great snacking on cake, cookies and other treats that pass generation to children after dinner. The study is in the general healthy affairs. Nutrition doctor David Popgun is the leader of investigate. He says parents should limits snacks to one a day to children age six or older. He also advices parents and *** to provide healthy snacks like vegetables and fruits. Professor Popgun says American school also need to improve their nutritions. For example, schools may have vending machines that offer what many people would consider junk food. That has been a push for schools to offer more healthful snake and lunch choices and fewer sugary drinks. Earlier this month, Coca Cola said it stop selling sugary drink in American schools unless parents request that. It's competitor said Pepsi just announced they would stop selling sugary drinks worldwide. American top health officers want to see more changes like this. Segre journal Weenier Benjamin recently spoke to law makers about making healthy food more available," As a growing concerns that we as a nation need recreate our humanities and our environments with healthy choices, easy choices and affordable choices.' Agriculture secretary Tom Bill Sake who has talked about his own childhood struggle with over weight agrees about the need ," We need to do a much better job making insure the * machines are much consistent. The time is come for prevented." First lady Michelle Obama is leading a campaign to fight childhood obesity. Public health officials reported in January that 17 percent of American children are severally over weight.
