Queen open a Flicker account
It's the latest way for the queen to engage with her public. Hundreds for royal photographs has been online by Buckingham Palace, some images are historic, others were taken just weeks ago. The aim, to illustrate the work of the modern monarchy, and make it accessible to everyone.
We have to embrace new technology because that's what all the youngs are using today, so things like Twitter are an example of that, I think she bascially wants to be with the kids and hope that they follow her and when the youngers are as much as, the olders too.
Some of the photograph on Flicker included rarely seen childhood images of the queen. They were family portaits throughout the years. Some pictures date back to 1800, taken by the pioneers of photography, and collected by Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. Others features the future of the monarchy, taking part in royaling engagement. The queen is also caputres recently on tour in Canada and New York, and her latest her garden parties.
Over the years the quees has strike to embrace technology and innovation. In 2007, the Royal Channel began broadcasting on Youtube, it has 30,000 subscribers, and more than 9 million people have viewed its uploads. The monoarchy Twitter account opened last years and has 40,000 followers. And a new royal website, the British Monarchy attracted up to 300,000 visitors a week.
Since the queen has lanuch things like her website and has her Royal Channel on Youtube, it has attracted a lot of subscribers and a lot of viewers accross the world, so actually there is a market for royal photography centainly. And probably both in Britain but also oversea in countrys like America, they really follow the royal family closely.
Buckingham Palace's Flicker account will go live on Monday, there are 600 images ready to view with the promise that the site will be regularly updated.
