The magnificent national Christmas tree stands eighteen and a half feet tall in the historic oval-shape blue room. West Virginia Christmas tree farmers Gloria and Eric Sundback spent 15 years growing this award-winning Douglas fir.

In true White House tradition, the blue room tree arrives at the nation's capital in grand style. It takes an army and National Park Service workers to get this gigantic tree through the front door and put up in its historic spot. Then the decorating begins. Nearly 100 volunteers, just regular folks from coast to coast descend on America’s house. 650 undecorated ornaments are hung on this massive tree: 129 rigs nearly 3000 yards of ribbon and hundreds of thousands of lights are carefully placed. And after five days, the White House is officially spruced up and ready for the holidays.

We did something new here as well. We want to try to get as many people across the country to participate in our Christmas here. So, we took ornaments from past administrations. We, we had about 800 of them. We sent them around the country to nonprofit organizations and the like, and ask them to decorate them. We asked them to do some kind of a landmark from their town or their community .So, you can see this one is from an Indian tribe in Montana, this beautiful ornament. But you can…

Like that blue and white one there, which I can't reach.

Yes, absolutely.

This is also from Omaha tribe… one of the chief’s.

Right ,absolutely.

And this is from Chicago.

Well.

This has the Dusable Museum.

And that's a nice idea that people can do it at home with old ornaments, you can take those old ornaments, you can like, decoupage them or cover them. I would have never thought of that.

And it's a good, you know, activity for kids because a lot of kids did these, and they can put their own
twists and spin, then the ornaments become a part of family history. And this is a cute one, this is one that was done, this is , this is painted in a peach color.

From Georgia?

Georgia. So, it's a Georgian peach.

So, great ideas.

So who all has a stocking in this family ?

Everyone, the president , the first lady ,Malia ,sasha and Bo.

Bo has a stocking?

Bo has a stocking, of course he does.

How lovely!

Santa loves Bo too.

Santa really loves Bo.

Bo gotta get home.I must say, Bo gotta get home. Bo, Bo did OK.

Oh, I look forward to seeing you later.

Thank you.

Oh, it’s wonderful.

Thank you.

Welcome.

Alright, Thank you!
