before i began i want to say a few words about the terrible earthquake and tsunami that struck Japan earlier today. First and foremost, our thoughts and our prayers are with the people in japan. it is potentially catastrophic disaster. and the images of the structions and flooding coming out of japan are simply heartbreaking. japan is, of course, one of our strongest and clostest allies and this morning i spoke with prime minister kan, on behalf of the American people, i converied our deepest condolences, especially the victims and the families and i offer our Japanese prime minister whatever assistances they needed. we currently an aircat craft carrier in japan and another is on its way, and we also have a ship in route to the Malyanent Silent to assist as needed. the defense prime minister working to account for all are military personel in Japan.us embassy personel in tokyo have move to an outside location and the state department is working to account for and assist at any and all am citizen who are in the country. tsunami warning has been issues across the Pacific and we want to seen an initial ways from the tsunami come ashore on warm another us territory in alaska and hawaii, as well as, along the west coast. here in united states, there hasnt been any major damage so far, but we take it very seriously and we are monitoring the situation very closely. fimack is fully activated and is coodinated with state and local officials to support this region as neccessary. and let me adress that if people are told to evacuate, do as you are told. today's events  remind us of how just fragile life can be, our hearts go out to our friends in Japan and across region, and we're going to stand with them as they recovery and rebuild from this tragety.
