提高英语听力能力 找对方法很重要!
a cathoric cathedral. in the 16th century, long after the fall of the Moors,
Cordoba's Christain ruler demolished the central column of the Mosque, and
erected this vast temple to Christianity. A cathedral planted in the central
of the Mosque, it's like a great parasite in its belly.

even the great Catholic emperor Charles V who authorized the construction of
the cathedral realized he made a terrible mistake when it was completed, rounded
on the architect, saying, you had taken something unique, and turned it
into something mundane, now I think you can still appreciate the beauty of the
mosque, but as an act of culture vandalism, I have never seen anything like
this, it like a sort of dagger plunged into the heart of the Mosque, it
represents an really heavy-handed imposition of one set of religious value
on another and there's something quite ugly about that.

so much of later story of Spain would be dominated by religious conflict, but
during the golden age of alandalus, back in its 9th or 10th century herday,
the religious reality was quite different.

the extraordinary fact is that here in Alandalus, uniquely the three religions
lived together in relatively harmony, now Islam regarded Jews and Christains
as people of the Book, whose holy writtings were to be respected, as for-runners,
of prophet of Muhammed's final revolution.

so the conquering of Moor made no effort to convince the Christains and Jews
to convert and even as the Koran commanded, gave them freedom to worship

for over 200 years, the three religions rubbed along suprisingly as well,
friendships and marraiges flourished across faith, and many Christains and
Jews held prominent positions in Islamic state.
