[Homework]2014-03-21&03-23 阿里巴巴赴美IPO拟融资150亿美元
Alibaba is a holding group with a vast array very successful subsidiaries. So I wanna do some West VS. East to show you just how many companies Alibaba has, and compare them to some of the well-known counterparts in the West. First, we have e-bay known for its auctions, Alibaba, well, they have this companies, Taobao.com. Then we have price comparison websites like Nexttag also Google shopping. Alibaba, they have this website, Tmall.com. Then we move on to Amazon.com. Alibaba, they have this website, Tianmao.com. Although it's a bit difference because Amazon actually sells products themselves, whereas Tmall.com is simply the mid-man between merchants and buyers. Then we have sites like paypal.com for online transactions, Alibaba, they have this website and platform, Alipay.com. And just give your an idea of how many different types of products they have you may have heard of dropbox in the west. Well, Alibaba, they have their own cloud system for syncing files across platforms. Theirs is called Aliyun.com. To put all the numbers into the contact, cyber Monday, so well-known in the Untied States. In total that brings 1.46 billion dollars in sales across very many companies in the United States. In China,in their guanggun singles day, just on Alibaba's platform alone, 5.75 billion dollars in transaction. And that gives you an idea of just how important and big this IPO here New York might be. S.B, CNN, New York.
