[Homework]2016-10-22 特蕾莎・梅首次欧盟峰会坚定脱欧

HOMEWORK

The Prime Minister has moved to S and her back bench, she's ahead of the key Brexit debate in the Commons later today, Teresa May would like her MPs to back Labor calls for more scutiny of her Brexit strategy before she triggers article 50 to begin withdraw, but Mrs May says the referendum result must be respected and the government's negotiation strategy should not be undermined, so why is she doing it? Let's go to Westminster our senior political correspondent Beth R gives us the inside track.
Morning Eamonn you summoned perfectly that the issue Teresa May had was or has is that Labor's day have tabled the motion insisting that the government give parliament, give MPs a chance to properly scutinize what her Brexit strategy might look like before she triggers as you said article 50 which are the formal negotiation talks next March the latest, MPs are very unhappy that while Britons have voted  to leave the EU, our own parliament doesn't seem to have any say in the negotiation strategy that Teresa May is going to put forward, and her problem is that if it was just Labor who had this issue, then she could ignore parliament, but she's got loads of MPs on her own benches, pro European MPs and even people that want to leave the EU that think they should have a say, so what she has to do is she has to have a climb down, and table an amendment say that she is going to allow this Labor motion to pass potentially, but she insists in the amendment that it doesn't intend to undermine the negotiation position of the government, now this is all parliamentary pingpang, what does it actually mean, what it means is that parliament might get more scrutiny of what her negotiations might look like, and it also tells you that she's going to have a hell of a ride through parliament and with her MPs to get these Brexit negotiations through, because she's only got a working majority of 16 MPs, and she's got many many more on her back benches, and that figure who want more scrutiny over her Brexit strategy.
