Live from NPR news in Washington, I am Jack Spear.
President Trump is on his way to Alpasso where he will hold a rally, he hopes it will help in convincing congress to give him money for border wall. More from NPR’s Moral Laeson. Before he left white house, the president met with the group of sheriffs and blamed democrats for the latest impasse in the border funding negotiations. He says democrats call for a cap on the number of beds in immigration detention centers was crazy. He says it shows democrats do not want to detain or deport criminal aliens. These are people that kidnap people, the democrats want them to come to our society, I don’t think so. It’s still not clear if congressional negotiators can solve their differences by Friday or what kind of a deal the president would accept. He has said the talks are waste of time, but he has also sounded open to a compromise even if it didn’t include the full 5.7 billion dollars for a border wall that he has demanded. Moral Laeson, NPR news, the white house.

All schools were open, but the district cancelled preschools, affecting 5000 three and four years, because it didn’t have replacement staff. Hundreds of students said several high schools walked out and joined the picked line. South high senior Madi Atury. Obviously it’s a crazy day, but I am so proud of my teachers for standing out here and fighting for what they deserve, and I just think it’s really empowering for all of us to see that fighting for what’s right. The two sides disagree over incentive pay and how teacher should get raises. Bargaining resumes Tuesday. For NPR news, I am Janney Browndy, Danver.
