Boeing said the changes included a software upgrade, designed to make it easier for the pilot to override the system, and a light warning of the system's malfunctions that were previously sold as an optical safety feature.



The European union says it is ending navy air patrols for migrant ships in the Mediterranean after a request by the Italian government. Air patrols are expected to continue until September.



And a appeal court in Chile has ruled that the Roman Catholic church must pay compensation for three victims of clerical sexual abuse. The victims have accused the church of covering up the abuse decades ago by a former parish priest.
