1. As trophica storm Barry soacks the gulf coast, New Orleans' mayor is thankful his city avoided the worst. Mayor Latoya Cantrell said on Sunday the city is beyond lucky. Elsewhere in the state, heavy rains from Barry created a flooding and tornado threat. The coast guard rescued at least dozens of people on Saturday in one Parish south of New Orleans, some from the tops of houses. No injuries or major damage have been reported.





2. And in n Nepal, at least 45 have been killed and dozens missing after heavy rains caused floods in the last several days. Monsoon season has been fierce this year. Officials say  a million more people are affected just over the border in the northeast India. And in Bangladesh, at least dozens people were killed over the weekend by lightning strikes.





3. And in France, president Emmanuel Marcon overseeing the annual Bastilje Day celebration. The parade this year on the Champs-Elysees in Paris showcased European defense cooperation. The biggest crowd-pleaser this year though was a man rocketing on a fly board device, the invention of former French jet-skiing champion.





4. And a power outage causing quite a stir in New York city Saturday night when the state went dark in J-LO concert. The power outage affected ten of thousands more in parts of Manhattan, and cut power to a portion of the city's subway system. New York's mayor said on Sunday the cause is still under investigation.
