Live from NPR News in Washington, I am Jeanine Herbst.

Hurricane Dorian, still a powerful category-4 storm with maximum sustained winds of 145 miles an hour is stalled over the Bahamas. And officials say there is catastrophic damage to the island. Prime Minister Hubert Minnis says at least five deaths are being blamed on the storm. "Our mission and focus now is search, rescue and recovery." Forecasters say the storm will stay over the island chain for several more hours and slowly turning west for the east coast of Florida. Coast communities are preparing for the storm which is forecasted to hug the coast of the US as it moves northward. In Georgia, the storm is expected to arrive Wednesday with six to ten inches of rain, and Governor Brian Kemp says people need to heed warnings to leave. "If coast residents decide not to evacuate, and I want to be very clear, they will be on their own. The first responders are unable to reach them." Florida, Georgia, the Carolinas and Virginia have declared a state of emergency.

Investigators say the gunman who killed seven people and wounded more than 20 others in West Texas this weekend was fired from his job shortly before he went on that shooting rampage. More from public radio's Carlos Morales has more.

According to authorities, the 36-year-old shooter called the FBI's national tip line 15 minutes before he was pulled over by highway patrol in Odessa, Texas. The FBI's / says the man didn't make any threats during his call. "It was a frankly rambling statement[s] about some of the atrocities that he felt he had gone through. He did not make a threat during that phone call. He ended that phone call." Law enforcement officials say the gunman also called the police to complain about his employer firing him. At least four people are dead, dozens more are unaccounted for at a commercial diving boat caught fire off the coast of Southern California early this morning. NPR's / reports authorities are still calling an act of search and rescue operation.

The Mayday call came in around 3:30 in the morning. According to the Coast Guard, five crew members who were awake and on the deck at the time escaped and were rescued by a nearby boat. Coast Guard commander Monica Rochester told reporters here most of the people on board, however, were sleeping below deck, and it's now widely feared they were trapped. The fire occurred near Sant Cruz Island, part of the popular channel islands national park about 20 miles off the coast of Ventura County where the diving charter was in the midst of a multi-day trip. Authorities say the burning boats sank only about 20 yards off the coast of the island. /, NPR News, Ventura, California.

Digital S say they have determined the source of a reconnaissance photo President Trump tweeted last week. As NPR's Jeff Brown reports, it likely came from a very expensive spy satellite.

On Friday, President Trump tweeted a photo of an Iranian space launcher facility. The picture was so sharp that many experts believe it had to have come from a spy satellite or drone. Now, a small group of satellite trackers think they know the source. A multi-billion dollar highly classified reconnaissance satellite. Michael / is based in the Netherlands. "It's basically a very large telescope, but not like the Hubble Space Telescope. But instead of looking up to stars, it looked down the earth surface." Some worry Trump's tweet will provide adversaries with information about US spy satellites. Trump has said he had an absolute right to release the photo. Jeff Brown, NPR News, Washington.

NASA's next rover mission will include a miniature helicopter. The latest six-wheel rover will land on Mars to study the region for signs if it once harboured life, and also detect systems for collecting soil and rock. But the mission will also include a tiny helicopter with a camera. It's been to be a test for future missions that would include drones that fly above the planet. This mission is scheduled to launch next summer and scheduled to land on Mars in March of 2021.

Crude oil futures are trading lower, down about 0.6% at 54.75 a barrel.
