The United States and the Afghan Taliban have held up the prospect of further peace talks after Donald Trump abruptly announced he had called off the negotiations. The U.S secretary of state Mike Pompeo said conflict will ultimate be resolved through dialogue. For their part, the militants said they will commit to continuing negotiations.

Iran says one of its oil tankers that have been at the center of tension between Tehran and western governments have docked and unloaded its cargo. Iranian state media didn't say where this happened, but satellite images have emerged that it appeared to show the tanker just off Syrian port of Tartus.

The security force in Indian administered Kashmir have intensified their crackdown in the valley after clashes late on Saturday. They fired tear gas and pellet guns to break up religious processions by Shiite Muslims in the summer capital Srinagar.

Wildfires across two Australia states are continuing to rage in hot and windy conditions, that officials have warned up unprecedented this early in spring. Queensland’s acting premier said global warming was making these such fires more frequent.

Over 200,000 people in Japan have been urged to leave their homes as a fierce storm bears down on Tokyo. Typhoon Faxai  is forecast to pass over the Japanese capital and its surrounding areas, where over 40 million people live on Monday morning.

The Irish prime minister Leo Varadkar has said he still believes Britain wants a Brexit deal as he prepares a visit by his British counterpart Boris Johnson. Mr.Varadkar said he didn't expect any major breakthrough in Dublin, but saw Monday's talks as an opportunity to seek what common ground might exist.

Doctors in Brazil say president Jair Bolsonaro is doing well after undergoing his 4th round of surgery since being stabbed at an election rally a year ago. The procedure treated an abdominal hernia lasted 5 hours.

And in Cricket, the Australia has retained the Ashes, beating England in the 4th test. They won by 185 runs.
