The U.N says parts of Idlib province in Syria have been almost empty, as thousands of people flee a relentless offensive by Russian backed government forces. It's estimated that 235,000 people have left southern Idlib.

Chile is holding a referendum in four-month time to decide whether its constitution should be changed. President Sebastián Piñera has agreed to the vote, following weeks of anti-government demonstrations.

Russia has put into service the first batch of strategic missiles, which claims can travel at 27-times the speed of sound. The Avangard can make sharp maneuvers and follow a much fatter and lower trajectory, making early detection much harder.

The Russian energy giant Gazprom has paid Ukraine's state-owned company nearly three billion dollars to settle a legal dispute of transit fees. It comes as Russia seeks to reassure the European Union that it won't cut gas supply through Ukraine, despite being close to completing a pipeline on the Baltic sea.

The French constitutional court has ruled that the government can go ahead with plans to choose social media to detect tax avoidance. Custom and tax authorities will be allowed to review uses of profiles, post and pictures for evidence of undisclosed income or inconsistency.

The music streaming platform Spotify says it will temporarily stop carrying political adverts from early next year. Spotify says it did not have the necessary level of robustness in the systems to validate and review such content responsibly.

A building contractor has lost floor plans at the headquarters of Britain's secret intelligence service MI6 during refurbishment work. The plans contain some sensitive information about the layout of the building.

And the former head of Ethiopia's state electricity firm has been charged with corruption linked to a giant hydroelectric dam being built on the river Nile. Prosecutors say the charges relates to a 150-million-dollar forest caring contract.
