A statement said their families will be given their death certificates. The government has always denied that the tens of thousands who disappeared while in the custody or security forces.

A court in Vancouver is hearing the extradition case of Meng Wanzhou, the chief financial officer of the tech giant Huawei, who is wanted in the United States on fraud charges and for allegedly violating U.S sanctions on Iran. Her lawyer said she can't be extradited because she has committed no crime in Canada, which has not placed those sanctions on Iran.

A rally by thousands of American gun rights activists in Richmond, Virginia has ended peacefully. They have gathered to protest against a new firearms law proposed by the state's democrat-controlled legislature. Security has been tightened amid fears of violence.

Mexican forces trying to prevent a caravan of central American migrants from crossing into the country have clashed with hundreds, who were trying to cross the river. The migrants massed on the Guatemalan side. They sent a letter to the Mexican president, urging him to let them pass on route to the United States.

The World Health Organization will convene its emergency committee on Wednesday to discuss whether the outbreak in China of a new respiratory virus constitutes an international public health emergency. Just days ago, the WHO said it didn't see any full emergency meeting. But China has since confirmed human to human transmission.

A painting of Vincent van Gogh has been certified as a genuine self-portrait by experts in the Netherlands. Experts say the artist painted it in 1889 while in an asylum in France, possibly suffering from psychosis.
