The United States and Mexico are closing the international borders to all non-essential traffic as both countries tried to slow the spread of the coronavirus.
NPR's GH reports. New York and Connecticut at meanwhile are now joining California // most residents to stay close to home, with other sates considering similar policies.
While confirmed cases of coronavirus in the US continued to climb, President Trump says he's gratified by Americans willingness to comply with strict limits on movement, meant of slowing the pandemic. That's caused for the economy. But Trumps says Congressional Democrats and Republicans are working together on a trillion dollar rescue bill.
"Watching and seeing people that won't speaking, getting along well, because we all have one common aim and let's get rid of these invisible enemy, get rid of it fast, and then go back to kind of economy that we had and maybe even better."

Vice President Pence says some come as volunteer to retrofit factories to make badly-needed protective gear for medical workers.

A member of the office of Vice President Mike Pence has tested positive for the coronavirus, as according to Pence's spokeswoman, Ketty Miller. Miller said not Mr. Pence nor President Trump had close contact with the aid. Further contact tracing is ongoing, Miller said in a statement. No other details have yet been provided.

The Army confirmed today two Defense Department employees who visited the Pentagon have tested positive for coronavirus.
NPR's TB explains both are being quarantined and being treated.
The first was an active duty, Air force member who was last in the Pentagon on Monday for less than an hour. And he since received medical treatment and self-quarantined at home. The other is a defense contractor who works for the Air force. He was last in the Pentagon on March 2nd. That person has received medical treatment and has been self-quarantined at home since March 7th.
The Army meanwhile is announcing it becomes the first military branch to shut down all its recruiting stations across the country, saying it will move to virtual recruiting.

The federal government is postponing tax day by three months because of the coronavirus pandemic. The Trump administration says you haven't till July 15th to file your taxes.

The IRS 国税局 had already announced an extension for tax payments. But you still have to do all the normal paper work by April 15th. Now the Trump administration says Americans can wait to file until July 15th with no penalties. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin announced the change on twitter. You can still file your federal return early if you want. That's important for anyone expecting a rufund who needs the money to help make it through the crisis. The IRS says if you need that refund you should file as soon as possible. But if you don't have the time or mental energy to do text prepare now you might catch a break. Just be sure to check on your state deadlines as well.

Well the story after story about companies that are laying people off, at least some large firms are moving in the opposite direction by lifting a surging ordering, both Wal-Mart and Amozoner hiring more workers. Wal-Mart which also sells groceries at many //locations says it expect to hire an additional 150,000 hourly workers for its stores and distribution centers to the end of May. Well the temporary jobs Wal-Mart says it anticipates at least some will become permanent.

Concerns about the upcoming summer Olympics are growing. One of the most prestigious governing bodies in US Olympics sport meanwhile says the Tokyo Games needed to be postponed for a year because of the coronavirus pandemic.
NPR's TG reports USA swimming wants the delay.
In a letter to US Olympic and Paralympic leaders, USA swimming asks those leaders to push the international Olympic Committee to postpone the Games due to start in late July. The letter says the right thing to do is prioritize everyone's health and safety and recognized the toll the pandemic is taking on athletic preparations. The US Olympic officials responded in a statement acknowledging the stress on athletes caused by the uncertainty surrounding the fate of the 2020 Summer Games. But the statement says the international Olympic Committee thinks it's premature to make a final call. And the IOC should be afforded the opportunity to gather more data and expertise advice before insisting that a decision be made.
