Officials in NY say social distancing measures are working to flatten the curve of cv in the state. But as NPR's XXX reports that both Governor Andrew Cuomu and the NY City Mayor Bill de Blosio are warning residents that it's still too early to relax the rules.
Governor C speaking to reporters in Albany pointed to lowering rates of hospitalizations, intubation, and people admitted to ICUs and said the efforts were working.
"They are working better than anyone projected they would work. That's because people are complying with them."
But he also told NYkers that the numbers could rise again without strict compliance. NY City Mayor B said that he would begin releasing data on hospital and ICU admissions as well as positive tests in the city.
"When all of the ones move in the same direction for sustained period of time, that's when can start talking about changing some of the rules and making life a little easier."
Both pointed out the death are still high with more than 7,000 in the state so far.

The Senate remains divided over a Rep bill that provides an additional infusion of 250 b dollars in pandemic relief loans for small businesses. Demts argued the program needs to prioritize other recipients beyond small businesses, such as hospitals, minority-owned firms and the state local governments. Dem Senator BH says Majority Leader M request of a fast track as the President request by unanimous consent is a political stunt.
"We strongly support it. It's bipartisan. But this unanimous consent request was not negotiated. There's no effort made to follow the process so that we get this done. So he won't get down."
MC argues the bill provides far more money to the only part of the bipartisan relief program he says is running out of money.

The TSA says only about 1/10 seats on US domestic planes that do fly are occupied. Major airlines have also sharply cut their domastic schedules.
