The political and scientific divide over the Trump administration's handling over the coranovirus pandemic is underscored in today's senate hearing by video conference. NPR's Mara Liasson reports the president's top and infectious disease advisor, doctor  Anthony Fauci clashed with republican senator, Rand Paul.

Paul and Fauci are on two sides of the debate about how fast the economy can be reopened safely. Senator Paul, like president Trump is willing to accept the risks that come with acting quickly. After Fauci warned there could be new outbreaks of the disease of states reopen too fast. Paul responded with the presonal attack.

I don't think you are the end all, and I think you are the one person who gets to make the decision. We can listen to your advice. But there are people on the other sides. And there is not going to be surge that we can safely open the economy.

Fauci pushed back saying he was giving advice according to the best scientific effidence. Paul who is also a medical doctor contracted the coranovirus himself in April. He continued to go to work without social distancing after he was tested and before he got the results. Mara Liasson, NPR News.

Top officials with the Trump's administration apparently want to see the effects of states starting to reopen their economies before the signing on the next coranovirus rescue package. That's according to White House economic advisor, Kevin Hassett who during a webcast event put on by the broking institution. A Washington think tank said its possible existing aid might be enough. The House has poised to unveil a three-trillion dollar coranovirus aid package later this week.

In another day of arguments done over the phone, the US Supreme Court heard a trail of cases over whether president Trump's bankers and account should be required to turn up records to investigators. Member station WNYC Andrea Bernstein has that story.

Unlike other presidents, Donald Trump has refused to share his tax returns despite amounting questions about his financial dealings. That led to his lawyers and the supreme court where Trump attorney Jay Sekelow who argued the president is not to be treated as an ordinary citizen. Justice Elena Kagan said no president is above the law. But her colleague expressed concerned about how to balance the need of congress to conduct oversight and if the president to carry out his duties. The justice had fewer questions about whether the Manhattan DA should be able to investigate. Though in that case, even if Trump loses, the records would be remained under grand jury seal for the immediate future. A decision is expected in early summer. For NPR News, I'm Andrea Bernstein.

Nebraska is holding the nation's first in person primary since a heavily criticized election in Wisconsin five weeks ago in the mist of the coranovirus pandemic. Polling places in the Omaha area appeared largely quiet
today partly because election officials repeatedly urge people to cast their votes early via mail. While republican governor Pete Ricketts, secretary of state Bob Evnen, both pledged to move forward in the in-person primary.

Stocks lost ground today. The Dow Jones industrial average down 457 points. You are listening to NPR.

The anti-defamation league says 2019 saw record levels of anti-semitic activity. An ADL report released today says American Jews faced more than 2000 acts of harassment, vandalism and assault last year. NPR's Hannah Allam reports it's the highest number of the indicents since the ADL started to track them in 1979.

The deadly white supremacist attack on the synagogue in Poway, California last spring is part of a grim new list. A report by the ADL, counts Poway among 234 incidents targeting synagogues and jewish community centers in 2019. That's just one sliver with the ADL describes as a year when jews in the United Unites exprienced quote a rising tide of hate. The more than 2000 incidents ranged from harassment, vandalism to violent assaults which killed five and wounded dozens. Incidents were reported in every state except Alaska and Hawaii. According to the ADL, New York, New Jersey and California had the most. Hannah Allam NPR News.

Just give you an idea how badly the aviation industry(administration) has been affected by the coranovirus outbreak. Air plane builder Boeing apparently did not sell a single passenger plane last month. And orders for a total of 108 planes were cancelled in April. It's the second time in the past four months Boeing failed to sell even one plane. The company says it's delivered just six planes to buyers who had placed previous orders with the company. Boeing gets at least some of the trunk of planes price a pound to delivery. So the figures are especially travels from the company at the time. The airline industry is facing a major downturn.

Fauci pushed back saying he was giving advice according to the best scientific evidence. Paul who is also a medical doctor contracted the cv himself in April. He continued to go to work without social distancing after he was tested and before he got the results.病毒检测后到出结果前都没隔离
