Remarks today by Federal Reserve board chairman Jerome H. Powell that the coranovirus educed recession could be prolonged since stocks tumbling. Powell calling on both the FED and the congress to take further steps on
top of already dramatic actions to counter the ongoing economic downturn.

We are to do what we can to avoid these outcomes and that may require additional policy measures. At the front we'll continue to use our tools to their fullest until the crisis is passed and the economic recovery is well underway.

Powell saying even with action's taken this far though, there are likely to be widespread bankruptcies. Powell also said despite calls from president Trump and others to take interest rates below zero. And that is not something the FED is considering.

The major down draft on Wall Street following Powell's remarks today, the Dow dropped 516 points; the NASDAQ was down 139 points; the S&P fell 50 points.

Official saying more children are being diagnosed with the rare syndrome and doctors believed there're something to do with the coranovirus. The cases involving inflamed blood vessels confected the heart and have caused three deaths in New York. From member station WSHU Charles Lane has more.

Since the pandemic began, children have appeared to be among the list vulnerable to the potential ravages of COVID-19. But now more than a dozen states and at least five countries are investigating cases of what's being called pediatric, multi-system and inflammatory syndrome. New York governor Andrew Cuomo says there could be more cases that have gone undetected.

If your child has been exposed to someone who had covid, even if there was several weeks ago, that is a special alert in the situation.

Cuomo is urging hospitals to prioritize coranovirus testing for children who present with symptoms such as fever, rash and abdominal pain. For NPR News, I'm Charles Lane in New York.

Two republican senators released a list of Obama administration officials they say were involved in the unmasking of Michael Flynn on some intelligence documents. It comes as president Trump has been stepping up attacks against his predecessor and former vice president Joe BIden. Here is NPR's Greg Myre.

In the final months of the Obama administration, officials made dozens of request to reveal or unmask the black dot name of Michael Flynn on the intelligence documents. This practice of unmasking is lawful and often used by national security officials who need to see the names to make sence of some report. However president Trump claims this was an attempt to undermine both Flynn, the incoming national security advisor who lasted less than a month and more broadly the incoming Trump administration. The lastest documents named then vice president Joe Biden as one of those involved but do not indicate any wrong doing. Greg Myre NPR News, Washington.

In New York crude oil futures prices fell $0.49 a barrel to settle at $25.29 a barrel. This is NPR.

The democratic party's presumptive presidential nominee Joe Biden is joining forces with Vermont senator Bernie Sanders to create joint task forces to shore up unity in the party. NPR's Asma Khalid has more.

In total there are 48 people participating when kindling is congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a leading progressive voice in the democratic party. She will be co-chairing the climate change task force along with former secretary of state John Kerry. There is also congresswoman Pramila Jayapal who is dealing with healthcare and former attorney general Eric Holder who will be working on criminal justice reform. These task forces go back to a pledge that was made last month when Sanders endorsed Biden. The two men announced working groups to make recommendations on six major policy areas, immigration, education, health care, the economy, criminal justice reform and climate change. A group of US states environmental groups and indian tribes say they will seek to revive a moratorium on coal sales from public lands in the west. The moratorium imposed under former president Brac Obama was dropped by the Trump administration is part of an effort to boost US energy production. A court case is now looking at whether the administration is closely enough to climate change and other impacts of burning coal.

Park officials in norhtern Colorado now say Rocky Mountain National Park is set to reopen at the end of this month. The Denver Post reporting today recreational access and services are set to resume there May 27th, two months after the park was closed in response to coranovirus pandemic. Officials say Rocky Mountain National park will reopen in phase starting with shuttle bus operations within the Bear Lake road Condo area.
