1.  The House is set to vote today on a police reform package. More form NPR's XX.

The House is voting on its police reform legislation one day after Senate Democrats blocked the GOP-written policing overhaul. Senate Republicans criticized Democrats for refusing to amend that though. GOP leaders accused Democrats of blocking the bill which called for increased reporting and created in sentence for police to meet higher standards for use of force. Democrats called the bill insufficient and are backing the House legislation. House speaker Nancy Pelosi says once the bill is passed it will be up to send to Majority Leader Mitch McConnel to respond.

"When we pass this bill, the Senate will have a choice to honor George Floyd's live or to do nothing."

McConnel has already rejected the House bill as a non-starter in the Senate.

Florida has also seen a big run-up in cv cases with roughly 5000 new cases a day being reported there. 3.    NASCAR says it's wrapped up investigation and still does not know who tied a rope into a noose found in the garage stall of the African-American stock-car racer Bubba Wallace. NASCAR also released a photo of the noose within the garage at Talladega Superspeedway in Alabama since last October. More from NPR's XX.

This week the FBI announced Bubba Wallace was not the target of a hate crime. Investigators confirmed the noose had been in the garage since 2019, long before Wallace was assigned to the stall for last weekend's scheduled Talladega race. NASCAR finished its investigation after checking  all the garages at tracks nationwide. The rope tied into a noose in Wallace's stall was the only one of its kind. But NASCAR President Steve Phelps says the investigation couldn't figure out who tied the noose and why.

"I noted some fulfilling, I wish there's more we can do, but we can't."

Phelps also rejected suggestions by some that the noose was part of a hoax perpetrated by Wallace. Phelps says Wallace had nothing to do with it and calls the allegations "offensive".

7.    The CDC says more than 20 m ppl may actually had been infected with the cv. Details from NPR's XX.

There's lots of evidence that the official case count for Covid-19 is a significant undercount. Today CDC director Robert Redfield said the agency agrees with the widely held view that the actual number is probably 10 times higher than the 2.3 m cases reported. In a telephone news conference, Redfield pointed out that the percentage of ppl who have been infected varies a lot by region.

"By now in all, I think somewhere between 5, 6, 7, 8% of the American public had experienced the infection whether they recognized or not"

Of course, that means that most Americans are still susceptible to the disease which is now spreading rapidly in some parts of the country.
