1.     最高法院推翻了一条路易安娜州法律,那条法律强制要求堕胎诊所的医师需要有附近医院的特许(挂靠)。
The US Supreme Court has struck down a law in Louisiana that requires doctors to have a hospital admitting privileges in order to perform abortions. NPR's XX reports, Chief Justice John Roberts sided with the court's liberal judges in today's 5-4 decision.

Well, this was a big opportunity for the court to start rolling back its abortion precedence and it didn't do that. It stuck by its 2016 decision in which it said that a Texas law that required doctors who provide/ who perform abortions at clinics, it required that law, required them to have admitting privileges at a nearby hospital.

The US Supreme Court also dealt a partial blow to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau in ruling the President can fire the director at will. NPR's XX reports, Democratic Senator Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts is defending her signature achievement.

The consumer watchdog agency was the brainchild of Elizabeth Warren who at the time was a professor of Harvard law school. It was created in the wake of the financial crisis but it's long been a thorn in the thigh of many Republicans. This decision is largely a win for conservatives, but Warren tried to strike an optimistic tone. She took to twitter to say that after years of industry____ attacks on GOP opposition, a conservative Supreme Court has affirmed that CFPB itself and the law that created it are constitutional. Ruling that the President can fire the director without cause is a hit to the bureau's fiercely guarded independence. But she says the court makes it clear the CFPB has the right to exist and its  ____ to stay.

3.    170 immigrants took the oath to become US citizens today in Belfast, Virginia. NPR's XX reports, one is a former Afghan interpreter credited with saving the lives of 5 American troops in his homeland.

As an interpreter with the US military Jeni Sinwarry wasn't supposed to fight. But in 2008, an American unit was ambushed by the Taliban. Sinwarry grabbed a rifle and rushed to the rescue of Army captain Manzeler.

"I saw Manzeler, that he was alive in a ditch. There were two Taliban behind him to kill him and I shot the two Taliban and I saved Manzeler's live."

When Sinwarry reached the US in 2013, a Go-Find-Me campaign raised 35,000 dollars, he used the money to set up "no one left behind", a group that help resettle former interpreters here. Nearly 19,000 applicants are waiting visas which is as slow to a trickle.

5.    The coach of Atlanta Hawks is challenging other NBA teams to help with elections this fall. Georgia Public Broadcasting XX reports, the Hawks and Fulton County just announced their arena will serve as a polling place in Atlanta.

The 700,000 square foot State Farm Arena will be used as an early voting site in Georgia’s most populous county for an August runoff and the November general election. Hawk's coach Lloyd Pierce is calling for other teams to open their doors to the community and serve as polling places.

"This would be a challenge to 29 other coaches in our league. We want to get 30 cities in our country being able to take part of everyone's rights which is the right to vote."

The arena is owned by the Atlanta Fulton County Recreation Authority which leases it the Hawks. The Hawks will also offer free parking for voters during a three-week-early voting period, train arena staff to service poll workers, and put up billboard to encourage residents to get out to vote.

6.    The govr of Arizona is ordering bars, nightclubs, gyms, and movie theatres and water parks to close for at least 30 days as the state continues to report a spike in the number of new cv infections. In New Jersey the govr announced today that indoor dinning would be delayed until further notice.
