The United Nations says the number of Zoonotic diseases, most of that jump from animals to humans, is on the rise and will continue to increase without concerted action to protect wildlife and preserve environment. The report says the trend is driven by our increasing demand for animal protein, unsustainable agricultural practices and climate change.

A new World Health Organization survey has found that 73 countries are at risk of running out of medicines needed to treat people who are HIV positive because of the coronavirus pandemic. The UN agency said about a third of all people relies on the antiretroviral drugs lived in countries now experiencing supply shortages.

More details have been published to the powers given to Hong Kong police under Beijing's new security law. These include the rights to search people's home without warrant, restrict suspects movement and force internet service providers to remove information.

Britain has announced independent sanctions against those involved in human rights abuses. The targets include people accused of having had a role in the killings of the Russian tax advisor Sir Sergei Magnitsky and the Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

The British woman Ghislaine Maxwell who has been accused with helping the convicted pedophile Jeffery Epstein to groom underage girls for sex has been moved to a jail in New York. She'll appear in court late this week.  She's previously denied any wrongdoing.

Russia says it is keeping all options available following Washington's decision to withdraw from the Open Skies Treaty. The 1992 agreements allow short notices over flights of more than 30 countries to monitor military activity.

The publishers of a tell-all memoir by Mary Trump, President Trump's niece, say it will be published next week.  A New York state court earlier lifted a judge's ruling which temporarily blocked publication of Too Much and Never Enough, how my family created the world's most dangerous man.
